I don’t like the wimpy exhaust tips the factory put on the C5. However I’m fine with the sound level. Has anyone replaced the tips with some thing bolder? What did you use? Where did you get them? Do you have a part number? Are you happy you made the swap?

Wimpy or plain?
My 1999 had no chrome tips, just black metal, is that what you have?
If so you could buy a used factory cat back for cheap with chrome tips, I bought a set off a 2001 for $100.00 in 2008, ran them for years until bought Borla.
Cut mine in half to make easier removal and gave them to a neighbor who collects scrap with a bunch of other car parts.
Someone on here might have a set for $100.00 with chrome tips and be in excellent shape, but wanted something louder.
These are Corsa Tips (on a stock exhaust system) that are on a 1999 that I recently sold. I think they look better than the factory chrome tips on my 2003.

I've been looking for round tips for over two years without success. Those Corsa tips look very good. If anyone knows where I could get a set please let me know...
I agree that you should consider swapping out for the titanium catback from a Z06. This is what I did. The tips are round instead of oval, and they are polished. In addition, the Z06 system will be a lot lighter than your stock exhaust. It is also more free flowing, so it might unlock a few extra ponies (not much on an otherwise stock setup, but still). You will be very happy with the sound as well. It is very similar to what you have, but has just a bit more volume at WOT. Still nice and quiet with zero drone when cruising or at lower RPM.
If you just want tips, there's a nearly endless variety to choose from. You can find them at Pep Boys or just about any other auto parts store. You can also search Amazon and eBay. As I said, there are a TON of options to choose from. Just pick whatever you like best. You would want to cut the old tips off your current exhaust. You would then weld (or have a shop weld) the new tips on. There are also tips that you can just clamp on. While these are easier, the weld on tips are nicer, and FAR less likely to get stolen. Good luck!

The problem that I'm finding is that the diameter of the OEM exhaust is 3 3/4" and it's impossible to find a tip - anywhere - that fits around that diameter. I've looked at all the usual places as I've said for over two years without luck. That would include Peps, Advance, Auto Zone, Walmart, Rock Auto, Corvette Central, etc. I really don't want to cut off the original tips to facilitate others. I found them before so I'll just keep looking.
Do you mean 1 3/4" ?? There isn't anything on a stock C5 exhaust system over 2.5 inches.
Any exhaust shop worth a crap should be able to put whatever tip you want on the car even on a stock set of mufflers ( NOT Titanium).
The trick to finding tips that fit right for a C5 is they have to be very short in overall length.
In the photo the very tip of my STOCK exhaust for 1998, second from the right without a tip, is 3 3/4' wide. If trimmed they would probably be 1 3/4" or maybe 2 1/2" but these are the way they came from Bowling Green... And I had previously purchased a set that fit over the 3 3/4" tip but lost one.

If I'm understanding you correctly I think you are saying that the existing factory tip is 3 3/4 wide? You need to cut the factory tips off and mount new tips to the actual exhaust tubing. You don't want to add a tip to a tip. If that's not what you mean than I am totally lost which isn't saying much lol.
I have a very early Corsa Sport axle back on my car and I didn't like the tips that were on there. Looked very dated.
Ended up cutting those off and putting on something more modern looking. It was a pain but worth the effort.
Process will look like this. Even though I am not using stock mufflers.

The pipe that is shown in the photo is the piece that comes out of the stock muffler. It is not a tip itself. I found a set of round tips previously that fit - obviously - but lost one.
I'll find another set one day and be done with it. I don't want to cut the stock exhaust pipes. Thanks to all of you for the suggestions...
What did the mufler shop suggest? My shop delt with the whole project. Easy peasy.
I wish I could find a shop that would do this. I went to one and they said go to a speed shop and buy the tips then come back and we'll attach them... These are difficult to find. Thanks...
Not sure where you’re located but a true muffler shop should have plenty of options for you to chose from. And, they’ll weld them on so you don’t have the same falling off problem. They can reduce or expand your current outlet to fit anything you want.
