I just redid my wife's 03 vert. looks much better and I did use raggtop.... but. I had figured after doing the process it would have a different effect or am I missing something? I had thought that the top would bead water rather than just get wet. and nothing .
Not sure why you would think that it would react any differently to water than the OE top. There are a variety of chemical treatments that you can apply to the top to help protect it and make water bead up.

I agree. My 2000 still has the OEM top, I think it's called Twillfast? Anyway, the only C5 verts I've ever seen with vinyl tops had aftermarket tops. I'm 99% certain GM made zero C5s with vinyl tops.
Can you tell what convertible top this is looks like cloth compared to my old 66 vinyl top. Does it look to be original or replaced? The top itself is in pretty good shape if its original from 00 theres a 00 ss beige top thats tore up the back glass fell thru it. Theres blue magic convertible top cleaner and protectant i had purchased for my 66 last year before i sold it. I use to use convertible top cleaner and protectant in different bottle but after being disabled i feel the 2 in 1 is best easiest use.

I have this for my Jeep, but also use it on my vert because the top is made of the same Twill fabric as the Jeep top. It makes the water bead and roll off.

Small issue it says for black tops, this isn't black.
Not sure what went wrong with your process except maybe the product was expired or bad? I have a black cloth top on my 2004 convertible and after I clean it with the Ragg Top cleaner, I then apply the Ragg Top fabric protectant and let it penetrate/dry overnight. The next day, I brush the top and take extra time around the crease points and it looks great and beads water. Just did it last week. Top is 18 years old.

that's what i did. no beading. I did look at the can...... don't see a date. I can go get another can since 3 coats takes the entire can........ I'll try one from the auto store instead of amazon maybe it's the dates....
