Don't know about air filters, but the guy at NAPA told me Wix makes the NAPA oil filters......
Yes they do 👍
I was wondering if they are necessarily the same quality. For example, Luk makes GM clutches, but is their Luk LS7 clutch identical to the GM label LS7? I’ve read they are not, but don’t personally know. As consumers I think we should have this info. 🫤
There are only a few actual manufacturers - Champion, Wix, First Brands (Fram) and Purolator. Most OEM filters are made by Champion from what I have read, although when I had my Subaru, I found their own label filters were made by Fram. Also Champion makes Mobil 1 filters. Everywhere I read agreed that Wix makes NAPA filters.

Wix makes Purolator too. They are both owned by the same corporation.

Don't forget Hastings and Donaldson, not only does Amsoil utilize their manufacturing but the majority of industrial filtration is produced by those two sources as well.

Neither are major players (Baldwin is another similar) in the automotive sector - they are mostly in the industrial segment. Biggest player in automotive is Fram.

That's interesting, as they seem to have the most questionable reputation.

Fram had a huge head start on most of today's manufacturers. I think they started sometime in the 1930s. But, IMHO, they kinda rested on their laurels/reputation that was earned decades ago, and havent kept up with modern brands. Give me a Wix, any day over a Fram.......
'Engine Masters' (Motor Trend TV) did an entire show a couple months back on oil filters, anybody catch it ?
I did, here are the results. I have always used Wix and I am on my 2nd K&N. Looks like the K&N filters a little better and still flows well. I like the nut on the bottom, makes getting the filter on and off in my situation. Remote filter tucked up in the drivers side access under the headlight. Using the larger HP-3003 size (PF1218) Filter top left and middle splitter cable hack, still holding up, 2 years

1. So how do you fit the Glad Bag around the filter up there it’s so tight?
