Rearview mirror camera
Before all the haters tell me to just replace the radio, Dont use it that often, with American Racing headers, and Corsa Extreme exhaust, rather listen to that.

If I were to do it again right now, I would get the newer ones which have 4k/2.5k and come with a super capacitor instead of a battery

What I have is a VanTop H612. Front camera is on the mirror and the rear cam is above the license plate.
Here are a couple vids...

NOTE: I had this kit in my Jag which doesn't have tinted windows. It was just too much glare for that car. But my Z06 has 35% tint on the rear and sides and its ok.
Interestingly I did have problems and they were very responsive! They actually sent me a new unit and is what I have in the vette now. It works well and I even bought a mounting kit. So here soon I'll dismount the OEM mirror and mount the camera / mirror by itself.
So far its been perfectly fine and suits my needs.
The only thing I wish I had was a camera at the front bumper to help me prevent parking to close to a curb. Otherwise.. its a great kit.

This is what I have planned for this spring, the parts have been on the shelf for a couple years now.

So..... @Yesterdayz I took my own advice and upgraded to the 4k super capacitor camera today.
Brand is "Wolfbox", model is G900 and it comes with a 4k front and 2.5k rear shooter. It also comes with a cigarette lighter power adapter but that's a no go since the cig power point is always hot on our cars...so I also bought the hardwire power kit.
You can do 2.5/2.5k to save file size but I threw in a 256g micro SD so I put it to 4k/2.5k. The mirror formated the SD card itself so setup continued to be a breeze.
Some misc viewing options but I'll be keeping it as a straight up rearview mirror.
My old rear camera module was large and rectangular but had a small mounting footprint. Was able to set the old one up right on top of the license plate. This new camera has a very bulky body and a large mounting footprint so I had to come up with a new mounting location as it could not fit above the license plate...
Rear area looks much cleaner without the old camera...can you spot the new one?
The great news is that both rear external cameras use the same 4pin quick connect cables so I didn't need to run any additional wiring to get the new rear camera up and running. The system even used the same method for triggering the reverse camera function so it was nearly plug and play.
I absolutely love this type of rear view camera system over one in a double din head unit. These are always showing what's behind you, not switching to music or only showing what's behind when you're in reverse. The image on screen is super clear and has a huge field of view by being outside the car vs your standard mirror looking through the back glass.
This new mirror marks my 3rd iteration of this type of camera system with each being a bit better than the predecessor. (OG was 10" and 1080p, 2nd was wider 12" 1080p screen, latest is 12" 4k+2.5k and has super capacitor instead of a battery)
It's quite clear to me why so many of today's modern cars are now doing this type of digital rear view mirror camera setup

I don't really use the lines all that much anyway.
On another note, one major thing I noticed about this new camera over my previous units is just how much better it is at night time.
Previous cameras had their images completely blown out whenever a car headlight was shining on it. The lights would overwhelm the sensor and the screen would whiten out almost completely.
I tried to capture how the new camera looks with car lights shining on it (difficult to take the pic one handed while driving)
It's more obvious in person but notice the two cars on the screen, you can make out the two circles of their headlights.
On my old cameras, they'd simply be blasted out in white on the screen.
This camera setup is WAY better than the earlier generations.

I'm thinking of getting a shop to install this. Where did you tap the power for it only to be on when the car is?

For a new install however, you'd need to run the wire harness under the headliner, down the passenger A-pillar and then down to the footwell fuse box for switched and/or constant power.
If you hardwire it with switched only it will not record when the car is off & it senses the car was bumped. If you want it to record any bumps, you need both switched and constant power (wired seperately)
