On my under hood sticker from GM, located on the right (passenger side) fenderwell, the factory fill of 134a is 28 ounces. Some years of C5 take slightly different amounts. The tech at this shop says their repair manual calls for 24 ounces, quite a difference! I'd like to think the OEM GM sticker is correct, but which is correct?? Who knows??!!!!
Mine indicates 28 as well, they could only get it to take like 26 I think, tried 3 times, wouldn't take more.

You clearly have your car at a competent shop, so see if they can tell you what clogged the condenser. Obviously we hope it isn’t Black Death, but I worry what I need to be on the lookout for.

One cause of a condenser with an internal clog is desicant escaping the dryer. The dryer is often replaced when the /ac system is opened for a repair.

It still has the original 23 year old drier, so that could be part of it. I also put several cans of stop leak with dye in it. Stop leak was last ditch effort to avoid changing the evaporator, due to the labor intensive job that it is. I never found any dye with my blacklight, so that's why I think it may be the evap unit. I hope I'm wrong, but if that's the case, that will have to wait until next year. But at least all other components will be changed to new parts. Time will tell, always does....

Thank you. Got it back yesterday. So far, working great. No leaks......yet, at least that you can see. Time will tell. Used to hold a charge for 3-4 weeks. R&B Auto repair on 39th street in Pinellas Park, Florida. Very professional. They're not cheap. BUT-Cheap work ain't good, and good work ain't cheap!!

$2k+. But that included flushing my system, a new accumulator, a new condenser, a new compressor, refrigerant, and new O-rings, and a new A/C belt tensioner...

Can't say enough good about R&B. They were very, very professional throughout. I asked for my old compressor back, as it still was working. I was really impressed how they returned it. They didn't just throw it in a box, like vast majority of shops would have. They have this special, metal, dual plug piece that bolts to the back of the compressor with one small screw in the middle, just like the lines do. This keeps any oil left inside, and any dirt out of the intake and outlet ports, highside and lowside ports!! THEN they put it in a box. I was impressed!!
