My gauge has been going more and towards 7/8 only at full. This time I tried something different in the Techron method - instead of buying the big bottle for 20 gals I bought 2 smaller regular bottles and added them to just over a half tank to see if can jump start the gauge back with sloshing in both tanks at high concentration.
I used to just wait till 1/4 then add large bottle then fill up. This is more of the canned Techron method for injector cleaning which is not the focus. Has not been working well to fix the 7/8 full - so let’s see on this trial 🤷🏻♂️
My gauge went to E yesterday from around 5/8's indicated. Drove the rest of the way home sweating bullets I would not get stranded in BFE Florida. A 20 oz bottle of Techron last night and a fill up with Shell 93 this morning did the trick, gauge works again.
Back in the day when I was working at a Gas Station I found much of the gas all came from the same place and or transport lines. The truck drivers would fill and additive packages were added to the fuel based on the brands requirement.
The more expensive fuels tend to have more extensive additives.
Kind of like ordering a Corvette. You pay more you get more.
I know a distribution point I used to pass near work had trucks from several brands coming out of it on a regular basis.
Then how good the fuel remains depends on how good the tanks are it is dumped in many have water on the bottom and if you pump near a low tank water is a possibility. We had to check for water often. Also never fill up if they are dumping as it mixes the mess up in there.
