And beware the rear end. A number of reported cases of the standard diff blowing when on the strip with high power and sticky tires. The only real fix is a C6Z06 trans and rear end.
The C6 Z06 diff has also ended up in pieces. Way back around 2006, Road and Track had a twin turbo Z06 built by LPE. It also spit its diff all over the track. The Quaife setup they went to in later years is supposedly superior to earlier stuff. But with enough power and traction, no part is exempt from failing.....
It went well for the most part. Didn't break anything, so that was a good thing!
First run wasn't so great. Dropped tire pressure to 22psi. Tire spinning all through the 60 ft. 12.48 @ 134mph,
Second run was a little better. Dropped tire pressure to 20psi. No spin, but definitely left way too easy. 11.26 @ 135mph.
Third run would have been nice, but lost traction in my shift to 2nd. Dropped tire pressure to 17.5. Cant find the slip, but it was 11.6.
Now I'm hooked and I cant wait till next season! Some of the guys at the track feel that since my trap speed was 135mph; if I can get the launch down and improve my 60ft, I should be low 10's. I'm sure an upgraded trans and diff would help give me the confidence to launch the way I should, but not in the budget this winter. Overall, a great day!
I appreciate the help and advice from all you guys.
Your car definitely has potential. My car is an auto, bolt ons with 3.73gears and 3200 converter. My best on street tires is
60 foot 1.97
1/8 8.0 at 88mph
1/4 12.5 at 111
wish I had sticky tires, maybe I’ll hit a 12.3???
keep us posted next season.
warm weather might help the 60foot.
