Corvette Top Clean Tip
Recently found a low mile 04 Commemerative Edition. Only had 27K miles. I decided to purchase even though the tan top had spots all over it. It looked like it was on the bottom of a hauler and a car above leaked oil it. I used all kinds of Convertible top cleaner and degreasers to no avail. So I thought I would try a trick I had used on vinyl tops. Mixed a 50/50 solution of 60 second house cleaner (which is basically hydrogen peroxide) and soaked a blue towel in it. To my surprise it did not bleach out the towel. So thinking that maybe this is mildew and not oil on the top I took the towel soaked with the solution and started working on the top gently scrubbing, letting it sit for a minute and thoroughly rinsing. It actually reduced the intensity of the spots. So I continues and went over the top twice more doing the same process.
The results were unbelievable! After leaving out in the sun to dry, the top now looks brand new! So happy I don't have to replace!
