Exactly.... Adjustable, so if ya don't like one setting, there are many more. AND Adjustable Ride Hight too, all for reasonable price and easy DIY installation..
The shocks that are on my 99, are stock, although 20 year old, they aren't leaking fluid, seem firm, rebound nicely, 70 thousand miles on the clock... Flat, firm, ride shows me the four continue to perform as Corvette intended....... Nothing indicates to me, the driver, the shock absorbers needed replacing.. I don't drive in competition but do drive long distance border to border yearly. I'm not hijacking the subject but expanding it. When, generally dose one KNOW shocks must be replaced. 😏
Shock performance isn't an all or nothing proposition. Its fairly easy to notice a completely blown shock. Its harder to notice the degradation from wear that happens over a long period. Especially when all 4 corners are about the same. At 70k and 20+ years they absolutely could use a refreshing. You can look for signs of leakage. The shock might be caked from dirt sticking to oil, or it might be wet under the dust boot on the shaft. Also if the car goes through multiple bounces to settle when going over something like a rail crossing, etc. If the car feels a little floaty, etc. Something that gets the whole car moving at once is the easiest place to tell though. RR crossing, or if you know a street with a good bump, etc.

,,,,,,,,,,, If your happy with the performance from your originals, then do nothing. If your thinking it could be better, then by all means look into replacing them. And today there are so many suppliers making replacements that are far superior to the the OEM shocks. You may be pleasantly surprised if you update them.......

+1 on DRM Bilstein shocks. Check them out and if you still have money burning a hole in your pocket after factoring in an anti-sway bar upgrade, then pop back here and tell us what "a butt ton of money" means, AKA - your budget.
Well, my car went to the shop today for the clutch change. I had not been able to see my shocks before since my car is lower than the standard height.
My shocks are Bilsteins. I'm keeping them. The car never seemed to need shocks, I just figured it would be a good time seeing as it was getting pieces yanked out underneath.
I am getting sway bar links and new bushings in the back end and the fronts looked good.
