Default RKT Performance upgrades (Pics inside!)

Hi everyone!

Big shoutout to @Rick@RKT Performance . He does incredible work!

I bought a C6Z trans and diff from the C6 section here and finally got them up to Rick for upgrades.

He disassembled it right in front of me, so he was able to show me the couple of issues that needed to be addressed. Absolutely amazing boost in confidence even for someone with a reputation as good as Rick’s.

On to the fun stuff:

RKT Performance Upgrade Package for TR6060

2nd/3rd gear replaced

1-2/3-4 synchronizer replaced

Trans AN -6 fittings/fluid line

C6Z Diff upgrades

Disassemble/inspect/clean/assemble differential w/ DSS 500M shafts/new seals

Wavetrac

Diff pump delete

Billet side cover (found a crack in the stock cover)

BEFORE

AFTER

That is ALL the beef right there.

What did you go with for trans mounts?

I got a little spendy and added the wavetrac diff to mine as well. Always be wary of those "while it's apart" concepts. Opted for sprayers on the trans.... meh.... probably never need them for my driving and they seem goofy to me now, but maybe it will make more sense later. I still need to find a spot to mount the pump.

I got Rick's offset trans mounts.

"While its apart" was my exact logic for the Wavetrac lol. I just want to make sure the trans and diff are not the weak points. I don't plan on spending much time at the drag strip, so it was probably overkill. Peace of mind is priceless, though.

These are much stronger units than the T56. The base C6Z differential alone, on factory parts, is considered good to about 900. The hardened output shafts and spider gears are extra security. I have opted to keep base C5 half shafts in place to act as weak links in the chain. I prefer the chance to pop those than 9k worth of drivetrain. They can also be had very affordably on ebay. I have two MINT spare sets I grabbed for 150 each.

Did you get a dss couplerless shaft yet? =) I even spot welded the bolts on so they don't walk. That's how much I don't want to service the torque tube unless necessary.

I haven’t done anything to the torque tube yet. I should probably get a 12mm unit.

That will get my attention once I drop my built T-56 and C5 rear out and sell them.

I definitely need to get some spare half shafts.

Out of curiosity, what was wrong with 2nd and 3rd? Or are they a common upgrade in the tr6060?

They had a good bit of wear compared to the other gears and synchros. I'm guessing the original owner did some spirited driving with hard shifts into 2nd and 3rd. That would have gotten him into the 100-120 mph range. I didn't buy it from @jamie furman or @Ranger , so I am guessing they weren't shifting into 4th at the drag strip (assuming this came out of a stock C6Z.)

In the after shots, those parts look brand new. Congrats on a great upgrade to your car.

I agree! I didn't expect them to look so good! Its a shame they'll be hidden under the car.

Although, the car they are going in has the rear tub cut out. I'll be able to peak in at the trans and diff LOL
