Another C5 trivia fact!
"Schrader has integrated over 700 million direct-fit sensors on global vehicle platforms since launching TPMS on the first production vehicles in 1997 (Chevrolet® C5 Corvette and Plymouth Prowler platforms)."

TPMS was first introduced by General Motors for the 1991 model year Corvette in conjunction with Goodyear run-flat tires. TPMS became a legal requirement in the United States, beginning in 2007. The TREAD Act, enacted in 2000 after serious injuries and fatalities related to tire pressure incidents, mandated that all new passenger vehicles weighing under 10,000 pounds sold in the U.S. be equipped with TPMS by September 1, 2007. Phase-in of the requirement began in October 2005.
I never really paid much attention to it over the years, I always check my tires with a gauge periodically. But it is cool that is was the Corvette that was the first car it showed up on.
