Default Reverse Light Bulbs

Anyone seen these custom cream colored reverse light bulbs before?
They don't light up worth a darn!

Gonna get some LED bulbs to try.

I replaced my stock bulbs with the LED from Vette-lights, and they are perfect. Lights up my driveway almost all the way out, but certainly better that OEM by 1000%

Order the Adjure Diamond Cut reverse light housing if you want your reverse and approach lights to be like daylight. It's about $90 if you look around.

Nah, not worth that to me.
I almost just went to walmart and bought standard bulbs.
And, I may still if I don't like the results of the cheap LED's.

Leds, cheap or not, are far superior to the stock bulbs. And unlike tail or brake bulbs, no need for resistors!

Vette Lights LED back up lights with Diamond Cut reflector. You might blind a few people, but you certainly will see anything behind you.

Amazon dropped off my bulbs a little while ago.
Got them in and working, YAY!!!
Couple of pics, hard to tell much in the daylight, will get another after dark.
I think they will be fine, definitely better than burnt out bulbs, especially for $8 for 4 bulbs!

I think this was like midnight with high output reverse LEDs and the Adjure assembly. The lights carry really far. As approach lights no one could be hiding lol.

Well, I think these are just right for me, plenty bright without being so bright they want to melt the lenses.
And, the price is even lower today than it was yesterday, $7.57 instead of $7.98, so now they are less than $2 each!

So, maybe someone can shed some light on this question...pun intended!
The bulbs spec'd for the reverse lights are a dual filament bulb, 2057, with a high and low side, like for a tailight/stoplight bulb, but the reverse light socket only uses one side of the bulb, only has one contact at the bottom of the light socket, why would they do that?
Basically wasting half the available lighting of the bulb.

When I worked with OEM manufacturing, anything to commonize parts was a goal. Then you stock less assembly line and service parts, and get a better discount on the volume purchase.

That would track, except that the taillight bulbs are plug-in and the reverse light bulbs are twist in!

Who knows. GM used to make a ton of different cars. Maybe they got a deal.

Could also be used to manually turn on if someone is tailgating you with high beams on. 😃

Or you could back up at 60 mph and not outrun your lights

I installed these bulbs yesterday. they are much brighter than stock. However, after they have been on, and I take the car out of reverse they are still dimly lit. Did you have this issue?
I read I could solve this by installing an inline resistor, but I don't want to cut into the factory wiring for that. Is there another solution? Or are there LED bulbs that don't stay lit when they should be off?

Really? Hmm...
I have not noticed anything like that, but I have yet to try it in the dark since installing the bulbs.
Hope it doesn't do that with the key off, drain the battery and give a no-start!
