Default C7 Seats into C5

Hi, i am new to the forums so sorry if this question has been asked. I came across a short thread but didnt find what I was looking for, entirely.

Anyways, i want to upgrade my C5 seats to be something more sporty. Theres a set of 2018 c7 zo6 seats, heated and vented for $700. Im wondering if this is a smart pick up.

I want vented or truly cooled seats since this is a summer car, with the ability to add racing harnesses if i chose, later on.

My wonder is, how much would that cost, DIY, to do that to the C5, and is it more worthwhile to go with some aftermarket sport buckets and an aftermarket heated and cooling system?

I like the ability to keep the different adjustment points on the c7 seats. Such as the lumbar and tilt, that comes factory for the c5 seats.

Thank you in advance!

Do a search of the C5 forum, there are a number of threads, answering your questions.
But, if those $700 seats are in good shape, GRAB THEM IMMEDIATELY!!!
If you don't, tell me where they are and I'll grab them!
I put C5 seats in my car, best mod ever!

A number of C5 owners have switched their seats out for C7 seats and have been very happy. There are threads that have been posted that details the process and results. After having three C5s and now a C7, I would highly recommend the swap as the C7 seats are much better.

Well, I picked mine up in the Houston area for $450, by pure luck, have seen a few sets in the 900-1200 range, but people are going nuts on prices, like they are dipped in gold, 1500-2500 a set, which is ridiculous.
So, a nice set for 700 is a really good deal.

highly recommend it. They look fantastic in the c5 cockpit, they feel great, and they drop right in.
The only issue you may have is if you have telescoping steering, you need to retain the c5 seat control module and wire that into the c7 seat (three wires, piece of cake).

Also, the c7 is slightly wider. The c5 seatbelts have a retractor at top and bottom, they will interfere with the seats and you'll lose an inch of rear travel. You can either modify the seats slightly be removing the airbag cover or (what most people do) replace the c5 seatbelts with c6 seatbelts, which do not have the bottom retractor and drop right in.
here's my c7 seats in my '00 :

I was truly going to buy a spare pair of the plastic rears of the seats and cut the new pair (swapping sides) to fit and cover over the holes where I intend to remove the side impact airbags from my Comp seats. Alas, those pieces are ridiculously expensive so I will likely find some plastic sheet and melt/shape it into place.

As for the seat release levers on the side. Has anyone come up with new creative solutions which replace the handle sticking somewhat far out to the side? Lanyard? Keychain? Parachord zipper style pull? 3D printed tab with better dimensions?

I trimmed mine down, went too far on the driver seat, all that is left is the base, no outer ****, but it still works.
Passenger side I trimmed down less, and about half the **** is still left.

Just easier to keep the covers and modify the $20 plastic trim on the car it rubs against (after replacing the c5 seatbelts with c6 seatbelts)

What is the issue with this? I haven't noticed that the handle sticks out.

Except that I may cage the car eventually and the bar traverses where the bags are. I also feel weird keeping the bags if they won't work.

Lever for the seat back tilt forward, sticks out and when you slide the seat back it smashes into the pillar.

interesting, I've had mine for a few years, and it's perfectly straight. Maybe because I swapped the c5 seatbelts out and modified the plastic covering in the car
