Re: Z06 versus Mitsubishi Evolution... (Big Carrot)
Hey Big Carrot, FORGET ABOUT THAT GMC DURAMAX!!!!!!!!! I bought one on April 28th. 2500 hd slt loaded! Sticker $44,100.00! THE DAMN THING HAS BROKEN DOWN THREE TIMES SO FAR AND I HAVEN'T EVEN REGISTERED IT YET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE JUST OVER 1000 MILES ON IT AND EXCEPT FOR THE 224 MILES BRINGING MY TRAILER HOME FROM FACTORY FIVE ALL THE MILES ARE FROM TAKING I BACK AND FORTH FROM THE DEALER! AS YOU CAN SEE I AM LIVID OVER THIS PIECE OF CRAP! I am picking it up again on Monday. GM says if it breaks again they will buy it back. What sucks is the lemon law does not cover anything over 8500 gvw and the 2500 hd gvw's is 9200. I am so pissed :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad :mad
Re: Z06 versus Mitsubishi Evolution... (fact5racer)
You got a lemon! If it breaks again, have GM buy it back if they said they would. Most of them are great, but it happens! Sorry to see that you got one of the few bad ones. :nopity
P.S. I think they send the culls up North. You should have bought one in Texas! :D
Re: Z06 versus Mitsubishi Evolution... (Big Carrot)
You should have bought a new Ford 3/4 ton with the new 6.0 liter Powerstroke. It blows the Duramax out of the water. And it pulls a 20 ft trailer like it's not even there. I've got about 6K miles on her and she's only getting better.

Re: Z06 versus Mitsubishi Evolution... (Ryan Bell)
My Chevy Duramax that I traded in would pull a 20ft trailer past most passenger cars up hills! Evem my 28ft trailer with 2 cars inside is not a problem power wise, it is just a handling/stability issue.
Re: Z06 versus Mitsubishi Evolution... (fact5racer)
To completely hijack my own thread, my brother has an '03 Duramax/Allison 2500HD fully loaded sticker was around $45k. Anyway, he's had nothing but good things to say, it's an awesome. Sounds like you got a bigtime lemon, fact5racer!!
Concerning the Ford 6.0 PS, the transmission is crap on it, they're still sorting the software on it as it's been jacked up for a lot of people. Typical of Ford to continue with development after they release a new motor/tranny with flaws...

I tell ya, these two little winged wonders just made a whole lot of C4 owners groan and reach for their credit cards...
My '93 coupe (automatic, stock, 2.59 rear) ran a best of 13.7 @ 103 at Beech Bend on a perfect 68 degree, 50% RH day. Firestone SZ50 285s on the back, 2.02 60'.

Re: Z06 versus Mitsubishi Evolution... (Big Carrot)
Sorry about getting off topic here, but have any of you that don't like the new 6.0 Powerstroke Ford actually driven one? Are all of your observations about it from things that you've "heard"? Just curious. If you have driven one you'll know what kind of power it has. I haven't had any problems with mine. I drive it every day with a 20 ft trailer, full load. The only problem I've read about is an idle problem. I'm thinking about taking it to the track to see how it runs. Maybe I'll even throw the trailer on the back for fun.
I know I am keeping this off topic but what the hell. Like I said, I can tow my "old" 20ft trailer withthe duramax around the world with no problem at all! PLENTY OF POWER! The problem I have is that I now have a 28ft trailer with 2 cars inside. I still have plenty of power, it is just the handling that I am concerned about. I just wonder if I need to go to a dually for better stability.
Re: Z06 versus Mitsubishi Evolution... (fact5racer)
I also have a 24 ft trailer that I don't pull as often. I also have had a dually before and it was a big pain when it was time to buy tires. What I did instead is buy these bars that go from the hitch to the trailor that transfers the weight to the front of the truck making it much more stable. They're a great alternative to buying a dually.
Holey crikey, here we go again, this sure sounds like that 350Z thread, with a mix of red neck race cars, I mean trucks. I thought this forum was about Z 06's. :lolg:
