So you think the police have nothing better to? Hate to burst your bubble there Mr. Cop hater but, a lot of felony arrests come out of simple vehicle stops. It's not the fault of the police. So why blame them for doing their job? The way I see it, you put them in the position to give you a ticket. Why would you want to do that? Hey, I don't think we should have to have a license to drive or pay registration or insurance....but it's the law and I comply. The same with front plates. It doesn't matter what you think about the law or how it makes your car look. Either you comply, change the law, keep paying those tickets, or waste time in court for that ticket (or in your case, fib to the judge). But bragging about being a law breaker that gets away with it just isn't cool.
I'm surprised no one else has made this observation yet, but in my experience I have found a very good reason not to have a front plate. I break the laws on a fairly regular basis, not flagrantly but speeding is speeding, and rolling a stop sign is rolling a stop sign; so when I do get pulled over (not in a long time though knock on wood) I prefer to get the no front plate ticket and a stern lecture on the offending infraction. This has happened to me twice in my life, both times for speeding, the officer was pleasant with me as I was pleasant with him and her, so they did the fix it ticket. I also got one for the tinted windows. I prefer these tickets over the actual important ones and for that reason I embrace my front bumpers nakedness.

:iagree: Friend of mine who is a cop says he makes many felony arrests by pulling over people for "stupid" reasons, like a burned out tail light. It's not our perogative to decide which laws are silly and which are not. If you want to disregard a certain law (like speeding or front plates), then be prepared to accept the consequences. Don't blame somebody else and cry about being harassed.
If we don't like the law, we can change the law to one that we do like. That is true for front license plates, window tint levels, even speed limits.
I agree with the many state governments that see front license plates as a expense that does not provide a reasonable return on investment. There are better ways to spend our tax dollars.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world.
If any of you think the C5 doesn't look good with a front plate I'm sure you will change your mind when you see the C6's open grill with a plate. Nothing looks worse than that type of setup.

Kinda has that Jaguar look, don't you agree?
I'm not sure if Texas has a front plate law or not. I know I've never been stopped for it and none of the local vette's run a front plate.
We have front pate law in NY. We haven't run one on any car for about 600,000 miles. Never a ticket, but a few stops, one verbal warning, a couple of suggestions to install it from a inspection/registration sticker stop, a mention by a US Customs officer in Lewiston, and one officer who walked around front to get plate number, saw no plate, so walked around back. No comment at all. Attitude, or lack of it, and gray hair seem to help, even when stopped for speeding.
BTW, I always carry the front plate in the car, as I've been told that's a concern; it could be on another car.
IMO, if you aren't involved in a felony, or are just speeding, most officers here in upstate NY don't really enforce the front plate law. They have mentioned that they have lots better things to do. Well there was that one exception, but he just threatened to write me up...he never did. I think he was envious of the C5.
I understand from several years ago that sports car clubs tried to get the Texas state legislature to change the law to require no front plate (like Louisiana) but 3M company sells more reflective coatings due to front plates. So guess what, the 3M lobby spread some money around Austin plus police groups objected so the law change was killed. As all long time Texans know, whenever the Texas Legislature is in session, NO ONE IS SAFE. Just look at the new driving related laws no one knew about until they were passed into law and became effective a month ago.
Yea, I have noticed that as well. The server has substitute words for a predetermined list of objectionable words one may want to post. Just means you have to be more clever with the disguises.
This is a forum, post whatever you like, If someone complains at your topic and takes the time to complain at your post, they have too much time on there hands.
Since this was directed at me, let me respond. I
actually, I was not directing this right at you, but I see more and more people get bashed just for starting a new topic. (nothing against you Shylor) I just hate being afraid to post a topic that may have been beaten to death before. I just feel that everyones corvette education may be at a different level. For example, I know there have been 100 posts on headers, but I probally never would remember all of them, and may want to start a new post if I have a question...
:iagree: Well said! Well said! :iagree:
I also agree that's what the headers are for , if you don't like the topic stay away
OMG not yet another front plate discussion. :cuss If you don't like it get the law changed. But whining about it here won't get rid of it. I hate front plates on the Corvette but it is the law and I will abide by it. I also hate giving the state more of my money. As with other cars, the Corvette could have been designed to look better with a front plate. That is not an impossible task.
Well, as I see it, to get the law changed involves getting enough people to support you in the cause, and what better way to start than to discuss the issue among others who may be of the same opinion, like HERE!! I have worked hard the several times lawmakers here in Indiana have tried to get front plates, and I tell you that you would laugh your @#@ off if you heard some of the lame reasons why, such as 7-11 clerks could easier get the license number of a robber(like when did you ever see the getaway car pulled head first up to the store?) and it would help identify drive by shooting perps( as you would know to get the number off the front of the car BEFORE they drove by and BEFORE they shot you?)
Get real, front plate laws are all about $$ , double the sales in any state that goes to front plates, and the only way we have to stop such stupidity is to talk about it, or "whine" enough to get the nessasary attention. Well, thats my soapbox speech for the month. :)
Not to mention the biggie: photo radar. That's the real reason they push the front plate enforcement. Now that photo radar has been exposed as a massive money grubbing scam concocted by Martin-Marietta and state police, it will be interesting to see how far they push the plate law. I have driven without front plates for years, and have never had an issue, even in enforcement-crazy Kalifornia. Go figure.
