Friend of mine ;) , with a Z06 decided to run a good friend of his in a E46 M3.
It was an interesting run, as it was about 30 F that evening, and we all know how bad the F1's are in cold weather. We thought it'd be interesting cuz traction would become a BIG factor in the race.
Nice out of the way Industrial strip at about 03:00 hrs......
You can see how bad traction is, and my bud mentioned afterwards that he never really nailed it until he went into 3rd gear. Anything close to full throttle in 1st or 2nd would mean an instant loss of traction. Even then, you can see the Z fishtailing..... :bb
But once into 3rd, and traction didn't become an issue, you can see the Z makes short order of the M.
It looked like the Z got him in the end, but then the M3 permaturely hit the lights to say ohhhh I waon the 3/10 race. Good footage though.
Good eye.
He was trying to tell us after the race that the thought he had won it.
We had made it clear that it was a 1/4 mile run, not a 1/8th run.
I've been at the track often enough to know my Z, as most I'd imagine, finish the quarter shortly after shifting into 4th.
You can clearly hear my shift to 4th, and shortly after I started to break, indicating the end of the race.
We had another run afterwards, just to make sure there were no missunderstandings...

Re: Z06 vs. E46 M3 Race (tlaselva)
You have to heat your tires if you want to win the race. You had no traction in this video. He killed you off the line and seemed to be ahead of you for as far as I could see.
I ran one on the highway in the Z just the other day...punched it from about 60mph or so. The results were pretty much as in the latter part of the video: I had two cars on him by 80mph and the lead just kept opening up. He was at least a 1/4 mile back there by 120 or so, when I shut it down.
Of course, he tried a flybye  Which resulted in me giving him a second beating. I looked over at him as I came even with his door, then pulled on. He woldn't even look over

This shows how much the driver matter when "racing"....the m3 looked about equal until the end, where the z started pulling. Good driver in m3 and bad in z06......nod goes to m3. Samething goes for the coupe.
