Re: What do your feed your Corvette? *POLL* (ZO6Les)
So according you, dude, I can use the cheapest gas I can find and if my sender (whatever a sender is) needs to be replaced, GM will replace it under my initial and extended warranty. DUDE, if that is the case, why would you waste your money on Chevron, or any other name brand gasoline, or any fuel cleaner.....buy the cheap stuff and have the General replace your sender.........I think I will be selling my CVX and buy sender unit stock.....there are a whole bunch of GM cars that, according to DUDE, will be needing senders :hat :hat :hat :hat :hat :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: The DUDE knows his facts.......because, after all, facts are facts :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: :lolg: :lolg:
Re: What do your feed your Corvette? *POLL* (Zero00)
You have to be about the most rude person I have seen post here in some time. I hope you gain some manners one day and learn to express yourself without resorting to being a jerk.
In the meantime the best thing to do with a :troll is to not feed it, so I say goodbye to you - keep up the good work - I am sure in your mind you are adding value to this thread - NOT.
Les :smash:

Re: What do your feed your Corvette? *POLL* (slong)
Steve,
That is the price you pay to live on the wrong coast :)
91 is probably adequate except under the most extreme conditions. If I lived there I would put a few gallons of race gas in the car when I take it to the track.
Les
In Kaleforea Super is guaranteed to be 91 octane or higher. You can bet it's not higher.
Re: What do your feed your Corvette? *POLL* (ZO6Les)
Ouch! Repercussions from the other :troll! Ha, Ha got ya Les. You just keep posting Les, because CF would not be the same without ya. I'm going to an Auto X at the local airport in Camarillo, and I could use a little higher octane. Thanks for the tip. And if stock goes up a little higher, you just might have a new neighbor. :D
Re: What do your feed your Corvette? *POLL* (slong)
Steve,
No problem - the vast majority of folks here want to help by sharing their experiences and opinions, a few want to be rude and stupid. I just ignore the latter.
Make a killing and get on over to this coast - all the 93 octane you need :)
Re: What do your feed your Corvette? *POLL* (theblackvette)
I will be purchasing a new '04 Z06 in the next month or so and will be using Shell (93 Octane Rating). Not only is it a company that has initiatives in improving the environment like cleaner fuels, but it has community interests also.
Re: What do your feed your Corvette? *POLL* (TZScales)
Thanks TZ scales!
Be sure to let us know when you purchase that new Z06.
You will probable be getting a sweet deal. I hear now GM is offering 0% financing on new vettes.
Re: What do your feed your Corvette? *POLL* (theblackvette)
I use the octane recommended for the car. Using a higher octane is simply throwing away money on something unneeded, and using a lower octane than recommended is formula for an early overall.

Steve, 93 octane is not worth the move...stay with us buddy :lolg: :lolg:

You should what is just right. :yesnod:
:iagree:
Use the lowest octane fuel without abnormal combustion (preignition/detonation "pinging"/"knocking"). If the car has normal combustion at all times, the engine is making max power and max efficiency. Increasing octane in that case reduces power and efficiency (octane boosters have less energy than raw fuel).
Using higher octane fuel when not needed also increases carbon build up (which then increases abnormal combustion (and ultimately requires a top end cleaning, valve job, etc.).
Fuel quality and effective octane (not what is printed on the pumps) is lower with Winter Formulated gas compared to Summer Formulated gas. For example, during a CA Santa Ana (abnormally hot days during normally cold months), we'll see abnormal combustion, even when running Chevron 91 (which normally works fine in the summer months). Using an octane booster under those conditions would help the engine maintain normal combustion.
