Just when you think you've seen it all. I was at 21st Century Muscle Car this morning having some work done on my car & was looking at all the cars in the shop. I looked inside this Z06 and WTF it was an Auto. I asked John about it and he said the guy wanted it done. They had a lot of problems getting it installed and had to make some of the parts at the shop.
Someone should report this to the authorities. I believe it is a felony isn't it? LOL! To each his own I guess; nothing like having a one-off car. What next, paddle shifting like the Ferraris? Hmmmmm!
And while we're on the topic. What is it with salesmen and automatics? Every car I've ever bought the salesman has tried like a demon to get me to buy an auto, the Z06 has been the only exception.
Last car before the Vette I ordered from the factory, and when I got the confirmation it said autotranny. Called the salesman to fix it, and he says, "Sorry about that.... You sure you don't want the auto. They're very nice."

Re: Automatic Z06 (theblackvette)
An automatic Z06!!!!!!
I have four words for that:
REE-DIC-U-LESS!
You wouldn't be saying that after I had collected my money from racing You . :D
I have seen a lot of ZO6 and FRC auto conversions - Lingenfelter/Mallet and others have done them. From watching the Carolina Challenge last weekend the autos are quick and consistent on the drag strip. Turbo, supercharged and nitrous cars seem to really benefit from it.
Personally - I like banging, my own gears that is, and only drag race when I cannot get to a road course (auto has a definite disadvantage there) or autocross (lots of autos there). But if an auto helped me to win, guess what......

Yeah, the A4 might even be faster than M6 but it takes away the challenge. It basically boils down to waiting for the time to mash the pedal.

:iagree: It does take away some fun when You really want to Mash it when Your driving around town and want to Row through the gears .
My turbocharged Z28 has an A4 and it is fun to drive because it is crazy fast but when I want to go driving nothing compares to running through the gears in the Z06.
