I have owned only one import (a Subaru), while owning several American (mostly GM). I admire all well built, attractive, cars. No matter where they are built. I keep my cars for at least 5 years and currently have a '97 Grand Prix GT with 170,000+ miles on it and it still runs and looks good. Oh yeah, and I just love my '99 vette. :flag
I do have to share one bumper sticker I saw this past year on a domestic car:
"Are you hungry? Need a job? Eat your import!"
Anyway, to each his (or her) own. I chose my corvette over the new Miata rotary sports car. No regrets.
It is wrong to admire both Vettes as well as some of the better imports out there?
...
So, my question guys is do a lot of you have a Vette and then also a certain import or just all U.S. or GM specifically?

I'm a long-standing Corvette enthusiast, but I'm also a "car guy." If you like others cars, fine. As long as you are happy, it doesn't really matter what others might think.
I believe that to truely appreciate Corvettes you must be an auto enthusiast first. And that means you probably like most any interesting, fast, well styled, etc. car!
Like most of the other posts, I'm a car enthusiast. My wife has a 1999 BMW M3, and that's a great car too. I've had a '98 Cobra, a '93 Rx7, but still have a '71 C3. Buy what you like and don't let others influence your decisions.

Prime example is the one I'm in -- I have a 2000 540i/6-speed which is I trully admire and great with the family (8 month old & a 3 year old) but love to get back to the roots so to speak a bit. I pulled the trigger so waiting for my new baby to arrive -- '03 QS Z06 once the seller gets back in town.

In my house generally we like to keep with American built cars. But we just had a M3 added to the fleet and got to say hands down, niice car.

My wifes car -- and our everyday driver -- is a '98 528i. It's a nice car -- but it's certainly not the car I prefer driving!
Well, there's nothing wrong with ADMIRING nice vehicles of all kinds...it's the mark of a true "car guy".
However, I personally never have & never will BUY foreign. I only buy American vehicles (which means Ford or GM, not DaimlerChrysler). My definition of "American" is more strict than it is for most people; it must be made in this country by an American owned & operated corporation...made in this country by a foreign company or made overseas by an American company doesn't qualify! :flag
I'm probably in the minority, but I take "buy American" seriously. As a Federal employee, I would have a problem with taking taxpayer $$ (i.e., my paycheck) and sending it overseas...but, that's just me!
Do what feels right deep down inside. Don't be influenced by conforming to what you're expected to like, approve, or own.
My dailly driver is a Lexus 430. Great car. a little heavy, but it will go 300,000 miles with no drive line work at all. My daughter just turned 375,000 miles on my 1990 LS 400. Form, Fit and Funcion is one the best built cars on the plant. I especially like the electric self retracting to the body, side view mirrors. Only thing it doesn't have enough of, is the other F word, Fun.
My Vette is a bit of garage queen, but I never wanted it for daily use. Has about 6,000 miles since delivery in April 2003. Best,
