Why not buy a coupe for less money and convert to a power, retractable hardtop? See www.coachbuildersltd.com
The look of hardtop when up and a convertible when down. Push a button to operate without getting out of the car.

Umm...Isn't that a hardtop conversion for a convertible? That doesn't look like a coupe - no "roll" bar looping behind the seats like a coupe. Then again - since you're the sales manager for that company, you 'outta' know... Looks cool regardless! (Where did that roll bar go?)
I bought a coupe because even though the Vert looks great topless, I don't like the look with the top up. Coupe looks great with roof on but I can still take it off for a semi-Vert experience.
I'm trying to decide between 05 Coup or Convertible. The price is not the deciding factor since resale is higher for the convertible anyway. If you had your druthers which way do you suggest and why? Thanks.
Had a 64 Vert for a couple of years then sold it Got a new 69 coupe that I still have but TODAY I bought a NEW 04 Mag Red Vert Couldn't live without it. Go for it. Have patience for delivey though
1) Can go to the track without installing hoops (big one for me)
2) Significantly less expensive.
3) Better rear view and interior space than vert with top up
4) More storage space
5) Better aerodynamics, rigidity, and top speed although gains are slight
6) Solid top, clear top, open air options
7) Safer to park in public lots,
Advantages for vert:
1) Better open air experience
2) Some (including me) like the lines of the car better
I love going 140 mph on road courses, and the club I run with does not allows convertibles without roll protection, so for me, the coupe is the way to go. Either way, you'll be in a great car.
I don't like the vert. with the top up, and in Washington its up alot. I also have a couple Harleys I'd probably never ride them if I had a vert. my FRC already took up lots of riding time but I'm still
Bought an 04 triple black vert in May, and traded it in on a z16 2 weeks ago. Kinda miss the open air feel, but the performance difference of the z16 more than makes up for it.
I defefinitely prefer the Coupe and I have had both. I can see why people like the Vert, having owned one.
Like already mentioned, having that top down in 98* plus heat is no fun at all, the top up on the vert is not very appealing to me, and the visability with the top up leaves a lot to be desired. In the northeast, the top stayed up much more often than it was down.
I want good , as close to 360* visability when I am driving my Vette, if for no other reason to help in driving defensively. Not to mention wind and water leaks in my experiences, seemed more common with the verts than the coupes. Interior wind noise, top down/roof off, is about equal in my experience
The $6900.00 price difference and track rules requiring a roll cage at some tracks were deterrents to me as well. $43,475 vs $50, 375 for the base coupe vs the base Vert in '03 when I bought. 16% more.
You might get more at resale for a vert. But depending on when you sell, it might not be 16%.
But, each to their own. Thats why they made coupes, verts, and FRCs
who buys a coupe corvette.......HONESTLY PEOPLE. Ever see a 53 coupe? lol
vettes are meant to be convertibles coupe shouldn't be a option. In a miata you can't get a coupe thats how vettes should be. They are more fun and just look better in a vert.
that lines and back glass on corvette coupes remind me of a turtles shell.
