I just went from a C4 vert to a C5 coupe. I KNOW i will miss my coupe on spring and fall days or cooler summer nights. I can't take the heat and humidity in the summer so right now having a coupe is not bothering me at all. If i found the deal i did on this coupe on a vert i would have gotten the vert. I will say i fell (even though i probably am not) much safer in the coupe at high speeds.
I hate FRC's no offense. I think the coupes lines are much more agressive looking. But a vert with the top down is a thing of beauty.
If the Corvette only came in the vert or FRC body, I would not have bought a Corvette!! Coupes just look waay better! Much more aerodynamic. Plus you can take the top off if you want to ride around with a 70 mph wind buffeting your face like in a vert. That gets pretty tiresome to me after about a half hour.
I'm trying to decide between 05 Coup or Convertible. The price is not the deciding factor since resale is higher for the convertible anyway. If you had your druthers which way do you suggest and why? Thanks.

I like convertibles and unless you are into top line performance thats the way i'd go

...Except you don't get THAT buffeting with the top down in a ragtop. The wind goes through your hair, not your trunk.

Well, the vert I drove had buffeting! And when I put the top up it was all dark in the cabin -- not at all light and airy as in a coupe with the tinted top. Plus vision to the rear is very restricted with the top up. Ah well, to each their own. I guess that's why GM made three body styles!
I love verts but i will have to say that i dont know what you all talk about with this wind beffering thing in coupes. When i remove the roof in my coupe i have none at all. In fact it is quiter than my C4 vert was with the top down. I dont know what youa re all talking about.
Funny thing is I LOVED my C4 vert and though i would hate not having a vert but you know what i barely take the top off my coupe and it is just as easy as the C4 vert top. I have really begun to enjoy driving the car with a full roof. It feels less show offy and i feel more secure doing some sprited driving.
Still love verts and they look awesome with the top down. Am starting to enjoy coupe more and more and think they look better with the top up.
At the risk of being badly flamed, which is better than being hanged, I love my COUPE. It has all the benefits of the Vert, in terms of top down driving, and fantastic utility with the hatch back. Comes in real handy with those trips to Lowes, etc. Bags of mulch, lime, great utility. Of course I put a water proof blanket down first. Also, for us being able to take our dog, a Sheltie, was a big factor. Even with the lexan top in the rear, the storage under it is great and the dog still has plenty of room. I realize that most Vette owners wouldn't let a dog in their car, but to me this is a daily driver and not a museum piece. Lastly, I like the access to the back on long trips for such things as cooler, camera, jackets, etc. Takes about 30 seconds to remove or replace. Let the flames begin...
Hey i hear you about the Dog. I have a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and it is awesome now being able to take him on trips with us instead of boarding him. I put a blanket down for him and he is all set back there and i still have room for luggage and the roof. I never thought of my vettes as practical before but i have to admit i like the practicality of the coupe and the fact i can still whip **** on the street.
