You don't say where you are from but in my experience sitting at a stoplight in 110 degree TX heat is no fun at all with the top down. I went with a coupe. On the 10-20 good days a year in TX I can take the top off and that's good enough for me.
I just bought a 01 convertible so I'm a little biased. I looked at all of the models - coupe, FRC Z06, and verts. I ruled out the coupe first. I don't like the look of glass back on the coupe. I like the look of the vert and hardtop much better. I went with vert because it has great peformance and the option to go top down.
The FRC was a very, very close second. Great looks and zero rattles.
I'm trying to decide between 05 Coup or Convertible. The price is not the deciding factor since resale is higher for the convertible anyway. If you had your druthers which way do you suggest and why? Thanks.
Ralph
Love the vert with the top down but not too keen on the ragtop up. Why couldn't they bring back the two tops like my 1966 had. Then I'd have no problem
Got to be a vert! I got mine by accident. I had intended to buy a coupe but I'll give up my vert when they pry my cold dead hands from around the wheel.

The C5 has a good A/C System. Even on hot, humid Maryland days, I run topless. If its too hot, I'll just crank up the AC and the blower.
It was too cool one night while cruising topless, so we cranked up the heat.

Last spring I had the same question as I looked for my C5. I was mostly leaning toward the vert but drove a gorgeous black coupe anyway to compare. I was surprised to find that the vert was actually about as quiet as the coupe, because there was a little wheel noise inside the coupe.... like my previous '97 Camaro when I would leave the lid over the rear storage compartment open. It wasn't offensive, but not as quiet as I expected. The solid piece between the seats on the vert helps serve as a noise barrier to block the wheel noise. I bought the convertible and have absolutely no regrets. You can have the top up or down on a C5 in about 15 seconds flat and there is still a lot of room in the trunk when it's down. The down side is that there is a bit of wind from all directions at 70 mph, and I'm told the optional wind screen is good to about 45 mph. I still like the sleek lines of the coupe, but my next one will be a convertible also.
I went with a coupe. I got three choices for tops. Yellow to match the car on hot days, smoked glass to see the sky and top off to let your hair fly in the fall.
Well I've owned both and am currently driving a vert. The vert was great when it was my toy car, but now it will be my daily driver for awhile and the blind spot (IMO) sucks. Top down is awesome and much better than a coupe with the top off. Have been thinking about going back to a coupe though. I would like to take it to the track and start mods, but don't want to add(additional money and IMO ugly roll bars) the required safety equipment a vert may need to run at most tracks. (yes I am aware of the new NHRA rules, but don't know anyone who has tested them yet.)
