I don't want to be contrary, but why non-platinum plugs? Certainly there are plenty of performance oriented platinum plugs available, if you insist on changing. And, with the high combustion chamber temps in a Z, I'd be leery of dumping the platinum...

I truly can not get technical about copper vs. platinum.

But I have always heard the platinum plugs are on most all of your new cars because they have a 100k miles worth of life and are great for emissions. The platinum plugs are not performance oriented.

There are a ton of articles on-line that give all of the particulars about which is best for performance .......

There are many (Vortech comes to mind) who are weary of the platinum "sliver" used in the plugs coming loose and floating around the combustion chamber and causeing damage.

I have some prior experience with Porsche (before I saw the light ) who uses Platinum plugs and never saw a problem.

That being said I have had blown cars before and would not use them in that application due to the increased turbulance and pressure in the combustion chamber.

Just my humble opinion.

I'm not sure I understand why you feel that platinum plugs aren't good for high pressure applications. As an example, the new Porsche 911 has an 11.8:1 compression ratio for the Carrera S and uses platinum plugs. They're also used in competition Porsches and (if I remember right) the C5R. Certainly, these aren't supercharged, but they have very high combustion pressures anyway.

Beware of what you read on the Web. Quite often it is someone selling something or who just is clueless. Of course, that might be me, too....
