I've got 24K on the odometer now. She stills runs good but I'm thinking its time. Any recommendations? Those who have done your own tune up, wanna share the shortcuts? What parts did you replace?
The DIC will tell you when it's time to change the oil, and the plugs and wires are at 100K, and I think the anti-freeze is 5 years, and tranny and rear end fluids are at long time and mileage intervals also, of course these intervals need to be reduced if you race. You might want to look at your air filter too.
It's not the 60s any more, no more point gaps to adjust
for the first 100,000 miles on a z06, all you need to change is the oil when indicated by the dic and air cleaner filter when dirty upon inspection.
this is what is recommended in your owners manual. the chevy small block has been around since 1955 so hopefully their recommended maintenance is adequate.
but you are free to do whatever makes you happy. if you like spending money, just buy a new 04 as there are some great deals to be had and you'll be good for another 24K miles.
Plugs good for 100,000 miles.
Wires good about the same unless damaged.
No distributor to adjust or timing marks to check.
No valves to adjust.
No carb to adjust.
Timing chain good till who knows when....
Aircleaner could use a swap I would think. So that must be a tuneup now because nothing else is needed.

How about a Motor Vac?---------its a internal engine & fuel system service/cleaning. Anybody have a opinion on this for a zo6? I own an auto repair shop ang get great results on other cars usually with higher miles.
Change the plugs, the antifreeze, brake fluid and the air filter.
Anyone that thinks the plugs will last 100k and they will still be able to get them out is dreaming or taking an unnecessary risk. The guidelines in the owner's manual have a lot to do with advertising and little to do with reality. They are in the business of selling cars, not making sure yours lasts forever. Plugs should be changed at least every 30K and brake fluid should be changed at least every 2 years. Moisture in brake fluid is normal and can cause big problems if is not replaced. All of these things can easily be done for less than 100 bucks. Isn't your 50K car worth a 100 bucks every couple of years? I know mine is.
I agree with everything you said except this. The 30k mile plug change was before the newer plugs were designed. While I agree they won't last 100k miles but, changing them at 30k miles is to early. I think 70 to 80k miles is more like it.

I humbly disagree. The 100K miles on the plugs has to be guaranteed in states with 100K emission warranties, including California. So, this is not for advertising purposes only. GM has to meet emission requirements for 100K with only recommended maintenance. Still, if you feel it is better to change them, do so. Just don't 'rag' on GM for something they didn't do.
I agree that 30k for plugs is a early. The more important consideration is that they be loosened and retightened. In my case as long as I am doing that I just replace them, but that is personal preference. The worst case scenario is a plug that is frozen in the block because it has been in there for 10 years. The plug wires will also be very difficult to remove without damage if you wait too long.
My '95 Ford Ranger has 110k on the clock, still with the original plugs and wires. It runs great.
I'd like to think the technology in a 2002 Z06 has been improved even more.
I do not blame you for a doing a tune up. My last C5 was a 2000 hard top in which I changed out the plugs and wires at around 20k. The stock plugs in these things are really not performance plugs. They are great for a lot of miles and that's about it. Get you a good set of wires and some good non platinum plugs.
