Need some help please....
was out looking at the airbox, was gonna modify it till i get a better intake. This d@mn thing came off and won't go back on. Cut up my hand pretty bad, and i can't see where to attach it to in the front. i know where the handle goes... obviously. and the GM service manual doesn't say s**t. Anyone know??? Here's a pic of the piece.
Cause 1 of 2 things are gonna happen...
1. Someone is nice enough to help me out...

They can be a pain in the ****...feel in front, and you will feel where they latch on, maybe if someone else can help latch them closed while holding it in place...I still suggest changing it in the long run

they do latch to the lower front of the rear 1/2 of the housing, if you can't get it to re-attach just take the complete unit off (at the throttle body) only takes a few minutes to remove entire unit, then you can see how it attaches. Good luck

The air box unit attaches to the front with two rubber gromets! Attaching the metal retainer bands with the air box removed is a snap! Once the bands are attached, the lid is securely in-place and the two handles are snapped back down; go ahead and clip the entire (ASSEMBLED) air box back on the two rubber gromets!
Once I found out how this worked I can change my filter in 2 minutes!

Ok, i got the friggen car put back together.... after many cuts, some serious, 6 dead mesquitoes, and 4 times as many bites.
..... and no Corvette's were injuried during this process.
Anywayz... thought i'd share some information incase anyone needs it now or later. There are 2 bolts holding the top piece of the airbox to the front of the car. You can see them (one is missing in the pic.) on the bottom right and left corners. (the key FOB is just showing the size of the intake to the filter. there are some other small openings on the sides, but i didn't get a pic of that. Besides, its stock.... stock sux.
They are a torx 30 head. extremely hard to get out if it hasn't been removed since the factory. I recommend just pulling the box out. The screws will pull through the little gromets and nothing will get hurt.... except maybe you. If you are trying to put the air box on, what i found works EXTREMELY easy is, to put the bolts for the top box back in the posts, then push the box on over the heads of the bolts. Cause you ain't getting a screwdriver down in that box to screw them in. Done asked the doctor, can't be done!!

I know your frustration!! To bad the manual doesn't explain a simple procedure better than "Take out the airbox". Until you've done it it hard to comprehend how it's done just by looking at it.
