You have wanted a corvette since you can remember. You have drooled over them every time you saw one. You now own one and have at least one heart attack a day, "its dirty, did that hit my car?, walk around inspections before getting in, dont you dare step on my door sills, dont lean against my car!, a life long grin, when driving either hard or crusing you know that your driving heritage."
sometimes I wonder if its worth it....looking for a far away, safe parking spot, trying to keep my car TOO immaculate....then my wife gets out the car and SLAMS the door.
Having owned two Corvettes, I can only say this about Corvette owners I've met.
There are those who loved them the moment they laid their eyes on one; they just knew that some day, one way or another (and usually with much sacrifice), they would HAVE to own one.
Then there are those who through fortunate circumstances within their lives, they are able to buy one and do so simply because they can. They may learn to appreciate the car, but it will never be a part of their soul.
If he has no respect for his car, so what? Who cares? That's his right and doesn't really effect me in any way other than to shake my head and think "that's a shame". Corvettes have the highest still on the road per centage of any American made car. I read years ago that over 80% of Vettes made were still regestered drivers which tells me that this guy is a minority and still, who cares.
Bought my first vette in April. I can't wait for the day when I don't freak out about dust, bugs, etc! I keep telling myself it's just a car but my mind isn't listening. I am obsessed with keeping it spotless.
BUT...there's nothing like taking a drive in a spotless vette! So..Something tells me that if I ever convince myself that it's just a car, I will not change my cleaning routines. Hopefully, just not worry so much!
Sorry have to go...I think I heard a deer tick taking a chit on it.
A corvette, in my opinion, should be treated with respect, not idolized.
My corvette is kept clean because I am proud to own one, and it is something I have saved for and longed for since 1964. I take it short hops and longer cross country trips. Bugs, stone chips, etc. are a nuisance, but, they happen. Its a car, albeit a nice car...a great car. I just love to drive it! To listen to it! To be seen in it!
I take care of my car but it is just a car. I try to wash it when it gets dirty but I have a life to live and sometimes the car has to go dirty. It has a few scratches/chips and I know that it will get a few more. Its not the end of the world and honestly doesnt really bother me. I will waste a lot of my life being upset if get mad every time my car gets a rock chip or has to go dirty and life is to short for that.
to make a confess, i was not into corvettes, actually a bit against....i used to be a bimmer, M Coupe, if anyone knows about it..when i joined the bimmer forum, everyone was talking about & comparing theirs with corvettes, and conclusion came out like "well, there are too many vettes out there...it is not unique, bla bla bla..." now, they treat me like a betrayer, and now i realize there are so many differences to compare those two....i chose vette for look & power...

Next time your on the road, count how many M coupes vs Vettes. You'll see who's not unique.
.. just yesterday I saw maybe four of them and I live in a small town.
Everyday I have a 1 hr and 30min drive from my house to downtown miami. On average maybe 2 or 3 vettes. BMW M's at least 4 or 5. Not to mention BMW's in general, any 3 series look's like an M anyways. And really, are they headturners? Do they look half as cool as a vette? If your into sportsedan look than yea.
