Lots of references to TECHRON for solving fuel gauge problems.
I have seen fuel injector cleaner with Techron added and Techron concentrate, which comes in 2 bottle sizes.
Which is the preferred product?

But the question wasn't really answered.
Yes, there are additives available that "include" the stuff, but there are also 2 different size bottles of the "real thing" available - a 12 oz. bottle and a 20 oz. bottle.
I've wondered the same thing - which "fix" is the one that people have used that works!
Thanks!

Amoco gas uses Techron as their detergent package. At least they did when my cousin was working there. I doubt if it has changed. My fuel gauge was reading empty when it wasn't. I filled up with Amoco 93 and the guage was back before I was even out of the station. Shame on me for using Citgo, but it was close to the track!

I use Mobil gas and also use Techron additive, it has "fixed" my fuel gauge.
The smaller size is for 12 gallons and the larger size is for 20 gallons, use the larger size.
Ok, I'm having the fuel gauge issues as well. Are you guys using the additive on top of using the Chevron w/ Techron?
I did have some weird gas gauge readings but added Techron at my dealer's suggestion and have since switched to only using Chevron. No problems since then.
Interesting... I have had BOTH sending units changed 6 times over the last 5 years, but have exclusivelly used Amoco & maybe 3-4 times Mobil, but just have had the issue again...
I am leery of adding ANYTHING to my fuel....since my car is running so good..and have never had problems with the engine..
Is adding Techron safe, and exactly WHAT product do you all suggest?
No Chevron here in Phila...
Also, how OFTEN do I add it?
EVERY fill up, or just ONCE until the sending units fails again??
Or once a year??
HELP!!!!!
Six units in five years seems odd since you're using Amoco and that's normally pretty good stuff. However, gasoline is different in different parts of the country.
I consider Techron both safe and beneficial. My understanding is the C5 sensors are extremely sensitive to any fuel contaminates. Around here there is so much junk (mostly sulfur) in fuel I limit myself to Chevron and Amoco if in a pinch.
When I had a few fuel gauge problems I wasn't using Chevron exclusively. So I added Techron to that tank and the problems cleared up. When I used Amoco only I would add a bottle of Techron about every other tank.
All I can say is I've had good experience with it and now only use Chevron as a result (again unless caught on the road), and I always keep a bottle in reserve.

Thanks for the info guys. I just got the car and had an issue with the gauge while driving it home from the original owner's house. I have been filling it with Chevron 93 octane but I've only put about 12 gallons in it thus far. Hopefully, continual use of Chevron will take care of it.

One things that nobody has mentioned. When I took my car in for the colum lock recall, 2 other software revisions are also uploaded to the car's computer. One is a new anti knock routine and the other is a software fix for the fuel gauge.
