Has anyone chromed thier OEM wheels? WHere did you get it done? Would be best around the NY area.. And if You dont mind can you give me and idea of cost?
TIA ,
Jason
Look in the classifieds in the back of Autoweek magazine. There's always several ads for chrome plating. I called one and was quoted $200 to chrome one wagon wheel. Of course, I'm assuming that the price included polishing, prior to chrome plating, as well.
I'm debating on chroming my wheels also. I understand that chroming the wheels will add a couple of pounds to the weight of the wheel. I don't like the idea of adding unsprung weight. Decisions, Decisions.
I would think that selling yours and buying new would be a bargin...
...I have a friend who will sell me the Crhome 5 spoke in OEM or Z06 sizes for $250 each...
...just a thought...

I did an exchange with Houston Corvettes, also did one on another car with West Coast Corvette, both worked out great and I am very happy with the quality and the look. I have now had the ones on my 2002 from the first day I had the car over two years ago and they are fine, but I do not drive the car during the winter time.
I suggest looking into the exchange program they have, paying the core and getting those bad boys mounted, send your old one back and get the core returned...Good luck, chrome wheels rule
One added note: You have one of the best chrome shops in the country in Philadelphia, Frankford Plating....call Jonathen at 877 841-9875. CHROME is not CHROME....the best is triple place Zinc Chroming, and many states do not allow this process because of EPA concerns, that is why out on the left coast they send the wheels to Mexico to get chromed...but it is allowed in PA. It will take about 4 weeks to do the chroming and it will cost you, but your wheels will be second to none....I know this because of the restoration I have been doing on my 63 and have used them after researching MANY chrome shops across the US, and without a doubt FRANFORD was the best.
Thanks for all the replies guys im going to have to follow up on these leads.
Does anyone know offhand if black chrome is harder to do or more expensive then regular chrome?
consider chrome power coat. have it on my stock z06 rims. looks like chrome, but with a very-very slight dark or black tint. you can only tell the difference when sitting next to standard chrome. actually the tint looks great against my black z. got everything thru motomotion in medina ohio.
$125 per wheels plus shipping. I can also do an exchange for $600 plus shipping.
Have you ever chromed any Magnesium rims? I've been trying to get a set of the O.E. 5 spoke chrome ones and haven't had much luck. Don't want to get aftermarket ones. My car originally came with the chrome rims but the original owner sold them and put the Magnesium ones on. I like them but would prefer a chrome look. Would be interested in some sort of trade.
These are aftermarket wheels that 12 years ago I paid less than $600 for. Yes they are heavier. I don’t race my car and can tell you have never felt any difference from the stock wheel. This picture was taken a few weeks ago and these wheels are in great shape. Maintenance makes a big difference in how they hold up.
