I can buy a 2001 Black convertible with 30k for $30k and keep my 1998 Firebird Formula (my first true love), or I can trade in the Formula and get a new 2004 coupe for $33k out of the door. I'm torn...

Get the new 2004 coupe. You'll forget all about the Firebird Formula. I promise.
Other opinion - go for the 2001 and you'll be able to pick your daily driver and have one always ready for "show!"
Maybe a "good weather - bad weather" pair?
Good luck - let us know what you do!
Do you want a vert or a coupe? Secondly, which deal has the better value for you - i.e. after it's done, which is worth more.....one new car or two older ones? Finally, do you have the space and means to maintain two cars? Personally I'd go with the 04 coupe because I'd never drive the Firebird again, but that's just me.

Question is do you want to keep the Firebird...
...if so...spend the $30K you have on comparably valued Vette...
...if not...sell (not trade) the Firebird...then by the vette of your choice...
I was also one to go from a 99 Firebird Formula to the C5. There is never a thought in my head about that Bird. The Vette is just so cool. I get so many people asking questions or what not. The Vette is an american Icon. The Firebird is unfortunatly dubed as American White trash.
