I just received from vetteessentials my steering wheel decal. I had bought and placed the sill decals two months ago with no problem. The steering wheel decal I received today tore as I was trying to place it. It did not want to come off the paper. Needless to say it looks like crap. Has anyone else had this problem?
I applied the steering wheel decal but was lucky enough not to tear it. I made sure the decal was warm and used an X-Acto knife with a sharp blade to help get the "peel" going. The decal is very delicate and you have to take your time. Oh, they are EXPENSIVE too!

email ken at vette essentials,.........he's a good guy,.......i think if you explain the problem,......you'll end up satisfied.........jimmy
I could not get mine to start off the backing. I emailed Ken and have yet to hear from him. Having seen that someone used an xacto knife to get it started, I may try that approach.
I cut the backing real close to the decal and still could not get the backing to peal off. I had to use a small knife to seat the the corners on one side and then pealed the backing off slowly. This is not an easy task. Mine looks ok but I think I was just lucky.

Have to leave it on the steering wheel for awhile before you try to take the paper off and you have to take the paper off very slowly and very carefully have to take your time with the decal.I had no problems with mine. You are just going to have to give it another try i also did the door sills with the decals and if you do them also take your time and go slow.
I've done the door sills, but not the steering wheel. Still looking for a product I like. I've seen lots of bad jobs on the steering wheel. I would hope some one would create a downsized version of the emblem used on the vert interior waterfall, one that would fit the steering wheel. I'd bet a ton would be sold; and personaly I'd pay $150 for a quality emblem 'cause the wheel is such a focal point.
Ken has replaced my decals w/o question. The trick to getting them to seprate from the backing is to use an exacto knife to get the corner of the flag pulled away from the backing. Also you must let them sit for at least 15 minutes before you try to pull off that backing.
If you are not satisfied contact Ken for replacements.

I have the one that mid america motorworks sells but it is plastic for the waterfall in the coupe,i don't think they can make one like that for the steering wheel it would be to big for the place it has to go on the wheel it self.Thr one i have for the steering wheel is the decal which i had no problems putting on as long as the directions are followed like using alcohol to clean the area before applying the decal.
If you have a steady hand the wheel emblem can also be painted. I hand painted my 2001 Vert and it turned out well. I used Testors model paint Red Silver and white. This paint cleans up easy with mineral spirits also so if you goof it uo up problem.
I put one of the V.E. Decals on my friends steering wheel with no problems. It was a very hot day, in the upper 90's, which might have helped.
Ken is a super nice guy and most likely will work with you on your problem.
