Dave.... I seems you missed a very important poll option. The "I don't have a battery" option.
By looks of it.... Out of the approximate 240,000 C5 Vettes on the road, only 19 of them have batteries
Or perhaps many people have a car or battery that's less than 3 years old?
The poll is flawed in that it doesn't count the people who had a battery fail within the past 3 years, it only counts the people who have had good battery life with either the OEM or Optima. So actually, the fewer people that vote, the more people there are with newer replacement batteries.
Many people with 02 and newer cars have had battery failures, but they won't show up on this poll..

There's no doubt that Optima, Exide, and a few others are far superior to the old Delco AGM, ...not according to this poll! however, the Optimas, and most others are still AGM technology. Check the clip from Optima's web site:

I have read many, many times of Optimas failing prematurely over the years as well. Also, the thing you must remember is that GM has probably sold more than 100,000 AGM batteries over the past 4 years, so I would think that given these numbers and the suggestion that a large percentage of owners of failed batteries have purchased Optimas, we'd see many more long-life Optimas (3+ years old) on the chart.
Yes. the poll is somewhat limited, but I really didn't want to list 50 choices. That would take too long to browse for many people. I want to see not only how OEM batteries are doing, but also how well replacements in 97-01 C5s are doing. I still believe that Optimas are good batteries; I'm just a bit surprised that there aren't more long-lifers out there.
