I've always heard good things about Interstate and you should be fine. But I posted a thread a few weeks ago about which battery to install, and it was unreal the support Optima has on the Forum. If I had asked which air intake or exhaust system to get, the answers would be been varied. But the Optima was like 95% of the answers.
I have the Optima red top 34/78 which was $116 shipped. I believe the 35 model is a bit cheaper.
As much as these cars are and as much as we love them, to me it was worth the extra $. But it's your money and car. Do what you feel is best.

If you want a different shaped battery spend the cash but the two other batteries will give you what you need.

Interstate is a major player in the battery game. I wouldn't think twice about putting one in my Vette.

get the gel filled battery... Why? because the computer sits underneath the battery... if the battery leaks it takes out the computer... (that has happened to many forum members already) Gel filled batteries dont leak acid. Thats why Optima is number one with the C5 crowd.

To address this problem, GM changed to an AGM type battery starting in the 2003 model year. If a battery leaks, it can fry your electronics as it sits on top of the computer. Whatever brand of battery you choose to get, make sure its an AGM type.

The optimas look nice in the engine bay too

It's the best battery I've ever owned...

Went with Optima yellow top on the C5 when I heard about the acid leak problems. Have always used Interstates as replacements in other cars and never had problems with them.

I was never a big OPTIMA fan until I broke down and bought one! Well worth the money! They are lighter and very well constructed! I have a RED TOP in my ZO6 and have NEVER had any problems with it!

Interstate batteries are preferred here in the hot desert. Die Hards, die very hard.

The latest issue of Consumer Reports compared many batteries for grueling tests that included life, reserve capacity, and CCA performance. Their picks are as follows:

Best for cold weather performance:
1. ProStart (Pep Boys), series 65: $60 CR Best buy
2. Interstate: $75
3. Advance Autocraft, series 75: $55CR best buy
4. Advance Autocraft, series 24: $50
Advance Autocraft, series 34/78: $75 CR Best buy
"All of these batteries deliver a good blend of life and cold-starting power in their group size."

Best for warm weather performance:
1. ProStart (Pep Boys), series 65: $60 CR Best buy
2. Advance Autocraft, series 75: $55 CR Best buy
3. Advance Autocraft, series 24: $50
4. Advance Autocraft, series 34/758 $75 CR Best buy
"The ProStart (1) and Advance (series 24 and 34/78) excelled in our life tests."

If reserve power matters most:
1. ProStart (Pep Boys), series 65: $60 CR Best buy
2. Interstate, series 75: $75
3. Advance Autocraft, series 24: $50
4. Advance Autocraft, series 34/78 North: $75 CR Best buy
5. Diehard, series 34/78: $90
"All excelled in reserve capacity. The Interstate and Diehard had superior CCA performance."

I'm guessing that the Optima was not included because of its higher-than-normal price range, which tends to restrict its sales to those who are extremely concerned about leaks. That being said, I've been driving since 1974 and have never had a leaking battery, so I guess we can compare buying an Optima to buying runflats?

If you go by what Cosumer's Reports has to say, you'd be driving a Honda or a Kia instead of a Corvette.

Go get your Optima Red Top and you'll be glad you did.

When I lived up in Rochester, NY (9 years ago) Interstates were all I ever used. But I didn't own a Corvette up North. I would go with an Optima only because that certain batteries can leak and ruin the computer on a Vette.

We don't but are willing to accept column lock, fuel gage, leaking diffs, faulty door-lock modules, warped rotors, etc, etc. All of these maladies are reported to CU by consumers like us, so instead of blaming CU, blame GM. In other words, don't shoot the messenger!

I have heard good things about the Interstate batteries. Very well made and reliable. I chose the Optima Red Top based on forum comments and have been very pleased with it.

Everybody has an opinion and here's mine: If you're going to replace it with a conventional lead-acid, go with the exact AC-Delco that it came with.
Second choice would be Die Hard Gold. Interstate's not too bad, but further down on the list. However, AT ALL COSTS, avoid CHAMPION batteries from Sam's and WalMart. I've had two and both times, it was like renting a battery.
The AC-Delco will probably be the most expensive per CCA, but it's worth it....
Just my 2 Cents!
