Thanks for the info. Very interesting.

SphyNxXx - I change mine when the DIC shows between 40 and 45% oil life remaining. That comes to about 4500 miles.

Like many others I do my own oil changes. I change the Mobil One once a year. The first oil change was done when I bought the car in Oct. of '03. I didn't care about the dealer saying the oil was "recently" changed. I changed it anyway. This year the mileage was only 2,600 miles but it was time to change. I think I added about half a quart during the year to keep it at the "full" mark.

I'll will be hitting the 5k mark today (if the rain stops) or tomorrow so I will change the oil and drop off the sample at the lab on Tuesday morning (Monday is a holiday here, our thanksgiving) and should have results by Wednesday night or Thursday morning. My oil life shows 40% right now. Next summer I plan on running an interval where I don't change the oil until the oil life shows 0%. Then as always I will send the oil for analysis. Since the 98 OLM is more conservative than the 01-04s, I expect the oil will still be good.
