Rubber Band
Yes a rubber band. I installed a BPP shifter today and noticed a rubber band looped over a screw on the center console and under the shifter boot. In removing the shifter boot the rubber band snapped. Thus I was not able to see where it was attached.
Anyone know what purpose it serves? Also does it need to be replaced.
BTW the BPP shifter is awesome.
TIA

don't sweat the rubber band; it's a normal installation procedure by GM. Just enjoy the new shifter.

Well, did you also notice the black duct tape under the console too. The wife thought that was very
too for a $57,000 car.

If you think this is bad, buy an exotic and see how poorly made they are.
BTW lets get back to the rubber band does anyone know its purpose?
Just out of curiosity. To set another poster's mind at ease its not a big issue.

I believe the rubber band held the traction control wires from being pinched during install...

Had the rubber band on my 04 Z06 also. Noticed it at the dealer when they were installing my XM commander in the ash tray area & the console was off. Asked the service manager & he did not know what the rubber band was for either.
