Default Hurst Shifter Question?????????

I replaced my stock shifter with a Hurst awhile ago. The question is'nt with the shifter it works great. My question is about the stock rubber part that has to be modified a bit to fit over the new Hurst shifter.

I believe I got a bit over zealous with the modification and cut it a bit to big. Now I can hear all the noise from underneath..

My question is what's the Part number of the insulation/mounting rubber that covers the opening of our shifters? I wish to order another one and replace my old one.

If anyone on the forum and chime in it would be helpful. Plus if you know that correct name of it that would be grateful also.

Manual Transmission Control Lever Boot (Shifter to Body Tunnel) GM part no. 12555226

As recommended by a member here a while back, I bought a 2" rubber end cap in the plumbing section at Lowe's, cut a hole in it and slid it over my Hurst shaft. Worked really well in damping vibration, quieting it and reducing a bit of the tunnel heat.

Hey Ed,

Is that Dyno Mat or some other insulation in the pic or is that there from the factory?

Hey Dave,

That's the Reflectix heat insulation I got at Lowe's as well. (Lowe's - the C5 modder's discount parts store. ) Reflectix is effective, cheap and easy to install. It's not the self-adhesive stuff I put for sound insulation in other places. I used Reflectix on the entire central tunnel area and in half the back section including all the storage wells.

Thanks Patches, I'm on my way to my local Lowes and pick up the 2" cap. However I'll still get a new Manuel Transmission Lever Boot.

Ah - good to know, as I hope to be getting a BPP or Hurst for Christmas.
