window valet--what am I missing?
Not to be to repititious but the convenience you get by just clicking the remote 3 times to put the windows up after the top is put back up is worth it's weight in gold. Especially if you have a tight garage like myself and don't want to ding up the driver side door.
Definitely a must have option for vert owners!
I put a car cover on the car when garaged or parked outside at my office. I never have had a problem with lowering the windows to put the top up or stretching to reach across the car to latch/unlatch the top. When I park at a mall or similar outdoor location for a long period, I use a tonneau cover to protect the interior The accessory has no application for someone like me so consider your need prior to making the investment.

I've tried to do searches on this forum for "window valet" and have not found much. Can someone post a link on how to buy it?
Thanks.

But just in case - here's a link to Top Down Technologies web site, from whom you can purchase them direct.

You WILL be able to raise and lower your windows without putting the key into the ingnition of the car, or climbing back into the car. And, one of the early posters siad he didn't "get it" - the windows come down when the yellow button on the bottom of the tonneau cover is pressed - but they do not go back up automatically.
I had a window valet and just never used it.

I sit in my car, unlatch both latches, get out and put the top back. Both windows drop when the hard boot is lifted.
I put the top up while the car is running. Sit in the driver's seat, latch both latches, put both windows up, and take the key out of the ignition.

Next, the scenario you wrote for putting it up isn't possible unless you also remember to raise the tonneau lid (which is not convenient to reach from driver's seat) before putting your windows. Otherwise, you get out of the car to do it and your windows are rolled down automatically. Then, after you put the top back up, you have to crawl back in, turn the ignition on, and raise the windows. With the Window Valet, you can skip this step, latch the latches by reaching into the open window area, and click 3 times to raise your windows.
It knocks several seconds off the whole thing each time, easily cutting the time in half or more that it would otherwise take. And, as mentioned, it saves you getting in/out of your car so it will keep your leather bolsters in better shape as well.
If you don't use your convertible top, I suppose it would be no big deal, but if you use it on a daily basis, it's just a must have!
I've got a convertible (in florida) and live just fine without one.
I've learned how to put the top up while in the car, so it's not really that big a problem. Also I'm a skinny guy so the whole tight quarters thing, not a problem either. Granted if it were say $30-40, I'd buy one ... I looked into it a while ago, just couldn't justify the need i guess.
Give me a Top Down Valet that puts my top down at the push of a button, you've got yourself a sold item.

For the first scenario it doesn't really save anything because the door has to be opened in either case. You lower the windows with the door closed, I open them after the door is open.
As for the second scenario, reread it. I put the top up while the car is running and then do everything else. I don't turn off the ignition until everything is done.
Sure, using it will knock several seconds off but really, who cares? It drops the procedure from 10 seconds to 8. Not a big deal. I have raised and dropped the top at stop lights before. Say I'm going to the store. I lower my top at the house, raise it at the store, lower when leaving the store, and raise it back at home. My trip took 1 hour but I saved 8 seconds. Just enough time to type that last sentence.
I "get it" and I can see how some people can find it useful. Like I said "I'm not trying to argue" I just never found it that useful.
If others enjoy them and find them indispensable that is great. More power to them.
How exactly does it saved wear and tear on the convertible top itself?

I have a remote start on my Yukon, it rolls the windows up and down also, very rarely do I use it for that.... but then again, it doesn't have a top to put down...lol.
