I believe most of the earlier C5's, up to '01 or so, may experience this. Not sure about the C6's. I installed a column lock bypass and have not had any problems since.
don't quote me but i believe the recall was for most if not all C5 model years. the fix is different for the auto and the manual transmission. many have taken the aftermarket bypass route, some like me the recall, (i have access to a very good service department). from what i have read over the last couple of years it is more of a matter of when it would happen rather than if it would happen.

Its a different system in the C6 but a friend who has had his new C6 about a month has already had it towed in for the column being locked. Here we go again.
The Column lock issue has effected everyone with a C5 except for 2004's. I saw 1997 through 2003 C5's comming in the shop that I was associated with prior. I am PLEASED to announce that Motorsport Technologies is now carries the Column Lock Bypass. Its a snap to install and will prevent any of us from having this problem. It cost $54.95, so let us know if you need one and we can send it right out!
