Ok guys I just got finish washing and waxing the vette, got in the car to pull it out of the drive way and as soon as I pulled off the car shut down and there was service colum lock on my dic. Also I was on my way to pick up some gas because I also had a low fuel and check gauges light on. So does the colum lock shut down the car or do I need to get a gas can?
If it's a 6 speed and it's had the recall done. It shuts down the gas. Till you can get the column unlocked or you have it looked at at the dealers. Hope your still under warranty or it's $700 for a new lock. Or get the CLB. But you still have to get the lock to release. Keep us posted. This sucks for the 6 speed doesn't it!!! I have the Harness K that is to go into the A4. It's GM's CLB for the A4 just haven't put it in yet. The car is being put away for the winter soon I'll do it then. Now there's confidence in that I hope mine doesn't screw up till then.

I should have said that it is a A4 does that help. And if I do the shake trick can I at least continue that until I can get it to a dealer?
Since you appear to have a 98 and it's probably out of warranty, it wouldnt hurt to try the ignition on/off - steering wheel shake routine. However, there is a chance that the actuator is shot and no cajoling is going to get the pin to retract (I know, because that's what happened to me.).
If this is the caser, then a flatbed tow is your only choice. Good luck!
Do you guys think I can reset the codes in the dic would that do anything. Plus the wheel is not locked but the engine just keeps shutting off and its getting anyoying. I put some gas in her too just to try and rule that out. Are there any more thoughts?
