By doing that you are also reducing the amount of air flow your engine is seeing. Let the darn thing scrape, it is designed to do that, that is why they are hinged, to give a little.
Yep. My car is lowered and I just let mine scrape away when I can't avoid it. They're cheap to replace anyway.
But Zilla might seriously be on to something. I mean, here's a guy who is smart enough to make a living stealing shopping carts and selling them back to grocery stores for a profit. Plus he's got the absolutely best avatars of anyone on the forum. Ya know - That ain't all bad!!!!
A word about Zilla and about 90% of the forum members here. I am impressed with the wit, humor and wisdom found on here, and I know that my remarks at times can be a little "out-there". This is a very informative place, yet it is always fun. Corvette's .... the reason for our brother/sister hood. We are family!
You do know that Zilla was once locked up for doing an unnatural act with a distributor cap, don't you?
When I first got the car a few weeks ago, I dreaded pulling in and out of the garage as it would scrape. I back in now and it does not touch. Good luck.
You can always just take the airdam off. Then you won't scrape.
but then you overheat. scraping is good. it means your in da weeds! girls will love it!
I bang my dam hard every day and it stil in one piece. the thing flexes and is on a spring back setup so its designed to take the beating. dont worry about it.

How about two pieces of wood, cut at an angle, acting like a ramp? Bolt 'em into the ground at the foot of your driveway. Might be a decent temporary solution, if you can find a saw to cut the steep angle on.

This is untrue. I carefully monitored coolant and oil temps before and after, and there was no noticable difference. I don't know where people get the idea that they will overheat - it even says in the driver's manual that it's meant for aerodynamics, not cooling. I'm sure it helps somewhat, that's why I left the actual scoop in place, just trimmed it down.
If you remove it completely, you might have an issue - though I have seen several first hand reports that you won't. I'm just speaking from real world experience, not hearsay.
I think my skin might be a bit thinner than the approach to my driveway. I might have misconstrued old Zilla's post. Thanks to all for the suggestions. I tried the jumping with the ramp this afternoon and damn if I didn't land it!

You're still pretty new around here - and the best way to "survive" your first 100 or so posts is to keep a sense of humor, develop a fireproof and biteproof surface on your butt and watch the smilies - they sometimes tell the whole story!
Glad your seeing things in a new light, and hang in there! Welcome to the best forum on the 'Net!
A little scraping rhyme for ya....Good thing it's a very cheap part to replace and despite scraping everywhere it still looks pretty good after 2 years.....
