Voltage Problem?
04coupe, 2300 miles.
Just noticed that with my headlights on, when I turn on my turn signals, the stereo lights flicker in unison with the turn signals. My volt meter display also flickers in unison with the turn signals...13.8, 13.6, 13.8, 13.6 over and over. It stops when i turn off the turn signals. This will be my first dealer experience with this car and from reading all your dealer experiences, I'm scared to take it in. I've always had excellent service at the Cadillac dealer, but Chevy might be a whole different story.
What do you think it is, or is it normal to do this.
Thanks, Jeff
I'm sure that those more knowledgeable than I will respond, but I am guessing that what you describe is not "normal". As far as dealers go I believe that this is a case-by-case situation, irrespective of the make of car.
Check to see if the battery is leaking. You may have a bad cell. Under load it breaks down. I would think it's the battery. To new a car for it to be much else. My .02
Sounds normal to me !! Your voltage will fluctuate with other loads. I have 2 other C5's They both do it! As long as your minimum voltage does not drop below 13 volts I would say it is NORMAL.

I just checked my battery and it looks fine...don't see any kind of liquid or corrosion around it or in that pan the battery sits in. I'll look at some grounds tomorrow. Where would the grounds be???
Thanks, Jeff

Bill, then why do the lites on the radio buttons flash or fluctuate with the turn signals? Also, just to test it to see if it got worse, I turned on the rear window defogger. The volts dropped to 12.6 and 12.8 back and forth with the turn signals.

Sounds normal to me too
Listen to this Bill Curlee guy, he know his voltage, as for me IM just re-volting
If your not seeing a "charging system fault" display, you're just seeing a fluctuation in DC voltage..

Thanks everyone....i'll just let it go then. If it doesn't worry you guys (the experts), then It doesn't worry me. I'm actually relieved not to have to go to the dealership. I bought my car out of town and will most likely use a local dealer for repairs and that kind of worries me.
Thanks again,
Jeff

we get paid very well here on the forum to help keep you away from the dealer, if we can. Soon as me and Bill save up enough money from the forum we are going to buy each other a beer

The forum started me out at the bottom. The pay is lousy, but as soon as I get my forum promotion, I'll start saving and buy you both a beer...or at least one you can share. lol
