I did alot of homework on this subject and went with Halltech stinger because is came with a new air bridge and got rid of the coupler,I am very pleased with the fit and looks great..IMO
First and most important. Welcome to the forum. There are a lot of great folks here and there is damn little that they can't tell you about the Corvette
For the intake, I've got to go with Blackwing. That's what I put on my 97. I noticed a "seat of the pants" difference with it. I can't comment on the stinger one way or the other but I chose the Donaldson because of their experience in the filter industry. They've been doing air filters for the military and heavy equipment industry for years and know their stuff. That and it is one of the most recommended mod's on the forum. Good luck with your upgrade.

Both are good and you can't go wrong with either one. I chose the Blackwing simply because it was available when I decided to add the air intake to the car, the price was right and the performance was there. Plus, it looks good on the car. Many have stated that the Stinger is a fine addition too. Comes down to a matter of choice.
Both intake systems cost about the same BUT the Halltech Stinger-R comes with a larger-than-stock airbridge and smooth throttlebody coupler. The Blackwing comes with an air filter only. Both filters are huge and the Warhead filter on the Stinger has a bit more surface area. Replacement filters for the Stinger-R are about $100. The Remay synthetic media that Halltech uses has been thoroughly tested after more than 20,000 miles by disassembling an LS6 and finding it to be perfectly clean.
So, to sum up the differences:
Halltech: Great filter, giant airbridge, and smooth TB coupler $250.00 retail
From CorvetteGarage.com The Donaldson Blackwing filter is one of the highest flowing filters on the market. Gains of 17-19hp at the wheels are typical! Mounts in place of stock air box with easy installation and factory look. No cutting or modifying your car to install. Also, the Blackwing incorporates an indicator showing you when it's time to clean!
The Halltech Stinger Intake is one of the best intake systems available for the money. It features the same 25% more than stock flow numbers like the TRAP, but is an underhood intake, which does not capture cold air as does the TRAP. The Tunnel Bridge replaces the stock bridge, which is the most restrictive part of the C5 intake system. With our 100 mm straight shot at the throttle body and 15% more plenum volume, coupled with the largest filter ever made for the C5, you'll feel the power. This is the same filter made for the TRAP, but it has been redesigned for simple installation at the end of the MAF. No cutting, no lift required, just 5 minutes to install. Kit comes with instructions and carries a lifetime warranty.
I went with the Stinger because of the bigger bang for the buck. It gives an immediate SOTP difference in throttle response and overall acceleration. I love it and highly recommend it. Very easy to install, the directions it comes with are clear and detailed.
Whichever you go with you have to do Dave68's fresh air mod too! You will probably have to clean the filter more often but you will get better perf with cool outside air getting to the filter.
Have a '00 coupe...Blackwing is only performance mod (do have Eradispeed drilled/slotted rotors w/s/steel lines). Did my research mostly on this forum. Very satisfied.
