20HP is 20HP, given the same drivers and enough traction, the 405 car wins everytime.
don't count on it..... we don't live in a world of exact same drivers ,but you are kinda right because the few bone stock 01-04's i have driven , felt very similiar to 100mph...just my .02
Thanks Blk.
...........
LT1 - My recent search ended with:
2001 Z06 16K Miles Bone Stock Clean Unmolested Car right @ $29K.
I see them now going for anywhere from 26.5-29K (and dropping).
I'd add 2-3K to that number for a 2002, then more for newer models.
........
Based on what I've witnessed over the past 3 months of watching "the market"..... if you can wait a couple more months.... do it... and land a 2001 Z for 25K.
My prediction.
I couldn't wait as my heavily modified mustangs would no-longer pass Houston Emmissions.... so I got the Z as a DD.
My 01 Dyno'd @ 430 rwhp mine must really be a ringer!!
J/K Guys - These discussion always make me laugh.
As said before - buy the best you can afford at that time. Every car no matter the make or model is refined in each year of it's production run. It's a fact of the automotive world.
Have fun with whatever Z06 you have or are going to buy!!!
I bought an '01 from a doctor and it has 10,000 miles on it at the time. It now has 12,000 and seems to be very strong, but I paid over $30,000 for it at the time. It may be to much, but it is close to new condition. I think it depends on the car period. All these Z06 are very strong and yes the '01 is very strong with Vararam B2 and Magnaflow with X pipe, B&M Ripper. Good luck on your hunt!
In May-01 The Ls6 Piston Skirts Were Coated With A Anti-friction Coating And The Cylinder Wall Clearance Was Tighter, The Rings Were Changed(higher Tension Oil Ring) For 02 Model Year. I Had A Blk 01 Z-06 Built In June Of 01(bought New) And Had No Oil Use Or Any Of The Other Problems Common With The 01 Model, Traded In W/30,000 Mi. On Z-16.
