How about a fixed roof coupe (FRC) if you like the Z06 styling better? It could have some Z06 screens added on and other appearances. Not sure if it's available in an automatic or not...

FRC'S were made only in 6 Speeds , It became known as The ZO6 in the 2001 Model Year.
I see no reason to change the tranny. I was under the impression that automatic tranmissions lose power and are for girls. Im sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone. But why mess up a almost perfect car

Hey. I'm really enjoying the characters who show up on here and I'm learning stuff too. It just seems to me that it's a personal choice or decision for whatever reason. People have different motivations at different stages of life. I sold (my father sold) a 63 Sebring Silver in 1965 because my dad ordered it with a 3 speed instead of a 4 so I didn't like the transmission and didn't know I could change it and no one told me so that's why I like to listen in on you all. Went through the crossover after I installed the Cartek 427 with NOS. There is more to it than meets the eye. Pedals, shifter, TCI controller, torque tube, trans and some know how. Went through the coversion for racing into the low 9's.

Sure it can be done. I prefer a manual, but I can understand reasons for the AT for some people. That being said...you could buy a vert and put a Z06 roof on it...or even convert a Coupe to a FRC body style if you're so inclined.
You can put an AT in the Z, but it'll take a lot of money and potentially make it VERY, VERY hard to sell...
That doesn't sound easy or cheap to me. I wanted the Z because I read it has the tightest body-frame connection, whatever the correct expression is. I was conditioned by a few really sloppy feeling verts and t-tops back in the 60's and 70's, which was the last time my family owned one. Now I hear they still rattle. I think hard tops would be/are tighter, and quieter. Am I wrong?

Go to any SCCA event and see how many automatics are being raced or try to sell this freak.
Corvette makes two models for people who want automatics. To put an automatic in a Z06 is simply a really bad joke.

If I was looking at future RESALE value I would of picked it up from the Dealer with the plastic still on the seats Untitled , I bought the car to enjoy it ! I've had offers to sell the car but I turn them down . Maybe our upset brother-member believes in racial purity,too. Operations like transmissions can always be reversed, and that's real important to understand. See my comment above about the 63 SWC I had with a 3 speed. That was a freak but it could have been easily corrected and I didnt know it. What I would like to hear is about how tight the coupe and vert is/are compared to Z. Let's educate one another here. It's clear Corvettes bring out powerful feelings. We need to accept that because we know it's true.

Everything's the same underneath , Just 2 wiring harnesses have to be replaced and the Torque tube , Tranny , Bell housing , and shifter ****/console and Your done.
