I recently installed the partition on my Z06 . Its the one Andy designed. I got mine from West Coast Corvettes. The workmanship and appearance are excellent. The install is about 10 minutes. The difference is night and day. Now I really have a trunk area closed off and also storage space right behind my seats for things like CDs that no longer slide all the way to the rear of the car. The road noise reduction is the biggest asset to me. Its really quiet inside now. My hats off to Andy dor a great design. The Z06 emblem in the center looks great to. Bob

I've had mine in for about 6 weeks now, got it from Nate @ Xtreme - It's a great addition to the Hardtop/Z06. I like the fact I can remove it in about 30 seconds when I need the full trunk floor. It looks like it came from the factory

Yeah, but 400 bux for a panel with a couple of pieces of rug glued to it is kinda steep, IMHO.

I have to echo my satisfaction with the partition. I didn't get the one with the logo, but I still love it. It truly makes the car quiet enough to enjoy the stereo.

It may be a bit pricey, but well worth it IMO.

The Partition may seem pricey, but when you handle one and then see how well it fits AND WORKS, it's worth it!! I got mine from LAPD and I'm very happy with it. I've also noticed that the A/C cools the car WAY faster and nearly all road noise is gone. When you drive with it for a while, you forget about the road noise....all you need to do is remove the Partition and you can really tell what a difference it makes!

Glad to hear that some people have recovered from the stock market blues.

Coming from a car audio background of 14 yrs now,I can only say to the guys that complain that its to expensive .Have you priced labor to a good car audio shop for Dynamatt on the rear walls and wheel wells . Our average labor ticket on a new corvette is 10 hrs at only 55.00 an hour. This is before you even factor in materials and that the entire rear of your car will take at least 4 rolls at $49-69.00 a roll for the good stuff(Super Series with the aluminum.Oh yeah knowing a guy is going to have your car apart for that period of time is not the best feeling either, and when you are all said and done paying ,you only notice a slight difference in noise reduction and still have no trunk.

I being the manufacturer wish the price could come down,But,There would have to be a sacrifice in quality.Sorry that there is a few that feel this way but .....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR !

That's My .02 cents

Thanks

Hey Guys,

I reiterate what Andy says about "Getting the quality that you pay for"! Being good friends with Andy I've had one of these partitions in almost every C5 I've owned and believe that this part belongs in the car as "everything is improved"! Unless you have several months of free time required to develop something of this quality I think $400 bucks is a freebe. Keep up the good work Andy.

Regards,

400 bucks is a lot of money and is not a "freebie". They would sell a lot more for 150 or 200 bucks. There is a threshhold for spending mod $$ and 400 bucks for something like that exceeds, that by far.

I'm not saying it isn't a good idea or that it doesn't work. All I'm saying is for what it is and does IT COSTS TOO D A M N MUCH!

$400 for a V1 is OK. $400 for this panel is out of line.

I suppose I have to second what CP is saying (right down to the V1 comparison). I'd LOVE one of these partitions, but just can't do it at $400. And knowing that a V1 is the same price, there's no way I'd buy this partitian prior to buying a V1. We all have different priorities, I know.. And at $400 for a partition, I just can't make the partition a priority.

I don't pretend to know what the margin is that's built into this piece, but if the price were lower, and more people could/would buy them at a lower price, then isn't that good for business?

(I can't help but feel that this MAY fall under the ol' "jack up the price on Vette owners -- they can afford it" way of thinking.)

All this being said, I still WANT one!

-Kirk

Hey CP and KMeloney,

I certainly hear what your saying about the cost. After all $400 bucks is $400 bucks no matter how you look at it. Jeez, I still measure everything in "Beer" and that's alot of beers.

What I was saying when I wrote "freebie" was with respect to the amount of time it would take the normal guy to make one of these at this quality. Andy personally used my cars on no less than 10 occasions. Making this is no simple task and probably would require over $400 just for the tools not to mention your time. The cost of manufacturing these isn't cheap either as most of it's manual work and isn't done in a Brazian sweatshop for .32 cents and hour.

Just my .02. I love the part and wouldn't be without it.

Regards,

I had spoken to Andy via email before the partition became available to the public. I would LOVE to have one, but I also feel that 400 bucks is a bit steep. I think EVERY FRC OWNER would buy one if the price were lower. Perhaps he could even interest The General in mass purchasing these for direct sale to FRC owners as a factory option. I would suggest to Andy that he may consider The General as a possible source of competition! I would like to see the price substantially lower so we could give the money to a small businessman like Andy, as opposed to GM who already has enough of our hard earned money. I understand the design may have been expensive, but you are also dealing with "perceived value" as well. I agree with CP, it's a panel with rug glued to it.

Maybe you guys could get a GP going that would make the cost better for ya. I don't know the business end of how the partitions are sold but in our area the more confirmed buyers the better (and cheaper).

It sounds like an excellent product and I too would be interested, but feel the $400 price tag is excessive.

I made my own with fiberboard and velcro. I painted it flat black and it works great. I will buy one of the ones with the logo when the price drops to $200. If I had wanted to overspend on things I would of bought a VIPER
