While the Pace was being dried off yesteray at the detailing shop, the back window literally just fell into the car. I know I have read a few times here about this happening.
Is there ANY fix besides replacing the top?
Hey Liz,
At first I was so embarrassed that I never told anyone....
No problems like that on my '04 but when I bought my 1995 "mint condition" Vert 4 years ago(and I still have it) for some reason the back window almost fell out when I got it home and everyone said I had to get a new top and I said...NO freakin way...a replacement Vert top never never fits right...I've seen many done and yuck...I finally found a small shop that did fantastic work and this old black man(I just loved him) put the window back in and it was sealed in with clear silicone...it was amazing to watch...It cost me $150 and the elderly old guy just laughed when he was finished told me he charged me $5 for the tube of silicone, $15 for the 45 mins it took him to do it and $130 for the knowhow... ...I had to wait 4 hrs there after he finished so it could set up correctly and now 4 years later it is still in perfect....amazing...so don't let anyone tell you it can't be fixed ...thats pure ...it can be fixed...it was originally heat sealed at the factory...just keep looking around for someone with good skills and get it fixed...
and by the way I saw the old guy last week at Wendys and we made eye contact and we both just burst out laughing at the same time and after we finished eating he came out to my Yellow '95 and said..."see...i'm good"...
While I was at my local dealer, a Vert was in for repair for that same problem. The service managers said that top replacement was the only option at the dealer. This is good opportunity to get the newer top with better sealing and noise isolation.
BTW, its darn nice to see some familiar peeps on General Discussion.

well, thanks! good to see you, too.
meanwhile...the top has been put back in with Duramix. We will see how it works. Also, I took some pix of how it looked "out." i'll try to post them tonight. evidently GM thought this might happen...there are strips of some sort that hold the window in from the top to keep it from actually falling completely into the car. interesting.....

my mechanic "glued" it in with Duramix. I saw the container, but i have no clue where he got it. he also didn't charge me as he has not done it before and wants to see if it stays!
