I currently live in an area were many cars are stolen my car that i have now has been stolen and recovered please tell me the best way to protect a 1999 - 2000 corvette from thieves.
A Colt M4.
I have one and if somone tries they are going to die trying.
70,000 cars recovered out of how many millions stolen? And again, would you want your car back after someone's driven the ever-livin-**** outta it? Just imagine the long term damage and premature wear it would incur.
What does millions stolen have to do with anything? Millions don't have LoJack. LoJack claims a 90% recovery rate. You may be right that the car can be trashed....but not always. Your car might be waiting peacefully at the nearest chop shop. But give credit where credit is due. It's proven effective in recovering cars. And maybe some car thieves will spend some well deserved jail time. I don't agree with the mentality of just giving up and letting them have it.

Honestly, if they want it bad enough, they will get it one way or another. If it's not yours, it will be someone else's. I used to install auto security systems for a living, and that much I can tell you for sure. Fact is they can't bypass the factory fuel pump kill (key chip) in a short amount of time. That means they will either have a key made (easier than you think) or they will tow it. You can have a secondary fuel interrupt on a switch (can be a toggle hidden somewhere or tied into a factory switch) or a starter interrupt (if they have a key and can push start it with a manual tranny this is circumvented.) Insurance companies like LoJack because it minimizes their costs if the vehicle is recovered (only repairing rather than replacing.) But again, would you want it back? I know I wouldn't. My buddy's 01 Z06 was stolen and trashed. I've seen what can happen. I'd want another car. I pay for insurance for a reason. If that $700 LoJack gives you peace of mind, then by all means, buy it.
Seriously now...
What I have on mine is a pager alarm. It has about one mile range or so and it works wonders. Obviously, I never go too far when I park my car unattended and when I have to go to the airport, the Vette stays at home and I take the daily driver so the pager works well for me.
The pager works well if someone touches the car. Since it has a dual stage impact sensor, tapping gently on the car will only give a warning flash on the pager but hitting it harder will make the pager beep and vibrate. It also informs if the ignition has been turned on, detects if trunk is open, if the hood is open and if any doors are open. If the battery goes dead or is disconnected, it will go off as well.
I am pretty sure you can buy better pagers now that will monitor if actually something is inside the car as well.
This pager saved my previous car from being towed away at an illegal parking spot. The thing went nuts when they started to put the jacks around the car. So I wen't out and I saw what was going on. The pager saved the day.
Realistically, all you can do is do your best to discourage the no good bums. Locked garage, locked car, motion detector lights, agreement with the neighbors to call police if any of you see suspicous activity, etc. A good guard dog helps and so does a HK .45 Auto.
Get a LoJack. I installed my at the dealer when I first bought my Vette...haven't worry since.
I don't know where you are located, if you look into a LoJack insure that the network covers the area where you live. The LoJack will not work in all areas.
Yeah! Get OnStar and the cops can find your car after it's stolen and trashed. Dealerships continue to convince naive buyers that OnStar is a antitheft device. By the time you can call OnStar and get a cop to the location your Vette will be trashed or at minimum the cops will probably be pursuing it on the local news at 6PM. I know I worked auto theft for 7+ years.
What DOES work Eddie? Anything short of sleeping in it with a 12 gage?
I also have a Glock 21 which is the .45.
But Red Vamp you have good taste. HK is the sh_t!
My favorite is my Colt M4 .223
I go to gun ranges quite often.
I feel like the ranger ***** are always watching me.

Ummmm.......me perhaps? Not sure. I have a well hidden kill switch installed. Even with the key, you're not going anywhere. The only thing that will defeat it is a wrecker, and it will defeat just about any system short of an armed guard. Another nice thing about a hidden kill switch is that it's cheap.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune.
