I love my C5 (99' FRC) but I can't stand all of these electronic related problems. Column Lock three times since new and has been in for service all three times. Front ABS sensor out six months ago and the fix was $700 to replace the entire hub which the sensor is permanently attached to. Column lock again three weeks ago. Last week the power window regulator went out and cost me $380. The car only has 43k miles, but I'm afraid of what might be next and how much it will cost. I think at this point it might be cheaper to just sell the car and buy a new car. In the past I have never kept a car past three years and 36,000 miles and only kept this one because of the high initial price and the fact I love the power, handling and all around performance of the C5's. Now that I have three children and need a car with four seats I guess my days of being a Corvette owner are coming to a close.
You own a Vette and haven't installed a CLB? These cars are pretty much rolling computers; things are going to happen as you start racking up miles on them. Just part of ownership.
If you do not purchase and install the Column Lock Bypass, you will be fighting this problem for a L O N G L O N G time! The entire procedure takes about an hour!
Do the CLB install, you wont regret it!

But a car in this price bracket, especially one that is left stock, should NOT have these sorts of problems at such low mileage. Electrical problems are what is killing BMW's reputation and has been one of the things people have warned me about now that I am looking at Vettes as an option. A '99 FRC probably ran into the 40s brand new, right? That's way too much money to be dumping hundreds and hundreds of dollars into a car that only has 40k, IMO.
