Default are these good headers?

Well, christmas is coming, and I'm now getting serious about my header purchase:

1) what do you think about LT stainless headers?
2) I've been given a price quote of $1,395 for LT stainless headers (1 3/4), magnaflo cats, and xpipe. Is this a good price?
3) how much should I expect for install/tune?
4) is an airbox necessary?

Thanks!

I don't want mufflers-- I have z06 ti exhaust and I'm pretty happy with it.
How much is the Dynomaxx package without mufflers? Where can I get it? Any good?

BTW-- what is the "air bag switch" upgrade in your car?

1: Haven't experienced...I've had TPIS on 2 C5's and loved them. Make sure whichever ones you choose won't hang as the low spot on the car, or you'll tear them up...

Others will vary...airbox not necessary, but will help make more power once headers are added. Install can range, I'd expect $200-500, depending on the shop and experience. Tuning is subjective, it depends on how much of a tune you're looking for. A full dyno tune will cost you in the $400-500 range.

His airbag switch upgrade is likely (though don't know for sure) an airbag cutoff switch for the passenger side. Later years had these stock; many have retroed them into older cars...

I'm talking about "LT" (I assume thats the brand?) stainless headers. One of the Forum vendors quoted me $1395 for LT stainless headers, xpipe, and two magnaflo cats. Sounds like a decent deal, I just want to know what everyone thinks of LT headers...

LT is not a header. Its a type of header. LT stands for Long Tubes
There are many manu. of them
LG Motorsports
Kooks
TPIS
RKSport
to name a few.

Popular brands of headers are DynaTech Supermaxx, Kooks, LG. If I go with some, they will probably be the Dynatech - you can get them for about $1300-1350 on sale.

OK-- I rechecked-- the system is:
1 3/4 stainless kooks LT headers
2 magnaflow cats
x-pipe.

Being sold $1395, shipped.

Is this a good deal??!?!?!?

The "LT" just refers to a type of header. LT= Long Tubes opposed to Short tube headers.

First let me tell you to not even think about Short Tubes as they are just a waste of your money.

As for brands of "LT" (Long Tube) headers. From all the investigating I have done in the past 3 months, LG Motorsports headers are the ones I am getting.
LG's are Stainless steel, many others (not all) are made from mild steel and without coating them they will rust through in amybe 2-3 years and be trash.

Also, LG headers are a great fit and are about the best made.

Just my suggestion. I searched and investigated headers everywhere, from the Internet, including this forum of course but NOT limited to this forum to the drag strip (Englishtown Raceway Park in NJ and Atco Raceway also in NJ)

You can read more about LG's here:

Stainlessworks headers are often reffered to simply as "Stainless". By the way, they are good headers.

So the kooks/magnaflow combo is a good choice?
How about the price?
headers + cats + xpipe for $1395?

I think that you might want to check out some of the threads in the C5 Tech section. You could do a search on "headers" and will probably get more info than you know what to do with.

Several of the major players make what most consider to be great headers. Some are easier installed than others. All LT headers should give you some increase in both HP and Torque. The price sounds about right but you can probably do a little better, I would guess about $100. Some systems are closer to $1800 but claim to produce more power. In the end, the decision is up to you. Good luck with yours. The great thing if you decide to do the install yourself, the forum is very helpful and informative. The forum is the best source of information that you can find!! IMHO

KOOKS headers are some of the finest long tube headers made. They are on my car. KOOKS has been making headers for years and you'll find them on many of the quickest cars here.

$1395.00 for headers + cats + xpipe is high however. I paid $1330.00 back in August. I wouldn't pay more than $1310.00 shipped.

Try TTP and Texas Speed and performance for starters. You may have to make a few phone calls.
