My friends son was a valet here. First night on the job decides to take a BMW on a joy ride. He lost control and ran into a tree, car burst into flames and he lost his life.

Sorry to hear that.
Being a daddy, that's a tragic loss of life.
Man, I ain't gonna go out with that chick anymore, she had remarked later,
"its just a car"
Thanks members,
ps, anybody know of a nice appreciative lady that knows about vettes.
"its just a car" ....I should have made her walk home
Your response should have been, it's not "just a car" it's a lady and I treat all ladies with the same respect! Now get the H out of the car cause you obviously are no lady!
I started doing what I used to hate others to do when I got my first Vette. Take to parking spaces and park at a angle. I am trying to stay door ding free.
I let them park my 97 at the Congress in Chicago (by no means a 4 star hotel) a couple years ago but no way with my '04 CE. Later I found out they parked it a block away! I wasn't thrilled with it but that car was less than perfect condition anyways.
When I get to the valet, I ask the attendent to get in the passenger side, and he leads me to the valet parking area, and I ask him to help me pick out a good spot. I walk back with him and tip well. It works every time.
On the other hand, I let a valet attendent park my '04 Yukon in Chicago a couple of months ago. I picked up my car (after dark), drove 500 miles home, and went to bed. The next morning, I noticed that the edge of the driver's door had been bent in!!! Not just a little, but it must have been hit very hard. I was mad, but I knew that it would be their word against mine, so I didn't bother contacting them. But I did learn, when you use a valet, inspect the car when you pick it up!
I haven't but I will. The place has many porsches, ferraris, and lambo's lying around, of all the cars mine would be on the lowest on his list.

those are the cars around here that tend to get keyed.
Neablas..... read my previous post on this subject.... enough said.
well it's a private well established restaurant that uses it's own valet people (for the restaurant) they have thier own lot across the street (a very little street) specifically for their valet vehicles and only for thier vehicles. I've valeted my car there about 3 times before, tip em' well and they take care of you.
If it were a large event where they called some people in, yeh, i'd park it myself. But these guys I've dealt with before and you can watch them park your car, so any mishaps *smack* .. get me your boss.
No, I will tip the valet guy and park it myself. I live in Manhattan and the guys at my garage wash cars for $20. I give them the $20 and wash the car myself.
Thanks,
Ken
Let me make sure I have this straight, you pay them $20 not to wash your car. I want their job!
