Hey guys, I'm about to install a bunch of stuff on my car and I figure while I have it all torn apart, why not install dynamat Xtreme throughout my passenger area (under seats, doors, and torq tunnel). I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions in tems of how to remove the carpet, how to do the doors, or other simple hints to help me out. I already have the KY out so no bend over jokes please
First get ready to shell out about $800 for the Dynamat extreme.
Then go to the tech center and look up "noise reduction", there you'll find instructions on how to install Frost King and Reflectix insulation. The procedure is the same, just a lot less money.
I'm probably missing something but why spend so much money? I picked up a water heater jacket at Home Depot, 20 bucks a roll (one roll did half of the trunk, I'll probably use 3 rolls for the trunk and cab), it has the aluminum foil on one side and a nice insulating padding on the other. It cuts easy, tapes easy and does the trick. Also, it doesn't say "HAZARD, WEAR APPROPRIATE BREATHING APPARATUS WHEN HANDLING. MAY CAUSE CANCER" on the label. Do I want to be surrounded with that while I drive in my car 4 hours per day?
actually, 800 bucks is a bit steep. I got 32 sq. ft. of Dynamat Xtreme for like 80 bucks on ebay. At the most, I would need three 32 sqft. kits for the entire car, but I'm only doing the cabin. Thanks for the info guys
CULookin, maybe we can have a dynamat extreme party... i live in Gaithersburg, and have 32 sq ft sitting in my garage as well
From everything i've read, people here seem happy with a frost king solution. Also, it seems you need more than 32' to do the whole car. In my case, I plan to partition off the back, so I'm only concerned about everything from the partition forward.
Let me know if you want to get together for a day to rip our cars apart
Don't know about the Dynamat Extreme, but the regular Dynamat weighs a TON!!! I lined a computer case with it to cut down the noise of a very loud computer fan required for this uber-chip I was using -- Wasn't a lot of mat, but it made the case REALLY HEAVY!!! Would never put that in a performance sports car... Maybe the Extreme is lighter.
I also used Dynomat Extreme. I stripped out the entire interior and also both doors and used 3 bulk packs of the stuff. It was a pain in the the butt to do but made a huge difference in sound quality of interior.
I paid a total of $350 for all three packs.

i would like to spectate on that as well, and i am sure that my buddy with his z would like to see how its done too.
99C5Vert, I'm actually putting in Ken King's interior in my 04 vert next wednesday, and I figured while I was already gunna be in their for 6 hours or so (I got a Hurst Shifter and gauge bezels to install too), I might as well just rip it all down and go to town on the Dynamat. As I said, I'm doing it next wednesday so you're welcome to come down and join the party!

keep in mind that the alternatives were used for 2 key reasons:
1. weight (lack of)
2. Price (lack of also)
if adding weight is not a concern for you, and the price of the Xtreme offering is not a turn-off either, then I would suggest going with the better performing Xtreme material.
